Working at Second Closet was a big mistake. At first, the interview was fine and they seemed genuine, but later you find out that the hiring manager is one of the owners and brother of the CEO.

 The 4 owners have their own backs and do not care for their labor workers and drivers. They would tell you that a typical day is 8 hours long but once you are hired on average it can be from 9.5 to 14 hours long. They expect you to be on time after working a long shift and they will undercut you on your pay if they can or lower your hourly wage after you've made an agreed after you started working.

They also don't pay overtime even though its illegal to do that in Canada and will take money off your paycheque if you mess up, or damage an item/vehicle that is covered under their own insurance. 

They will lie to your face if they don't like you and will treat you unfairly if need be. I suggest looking elsewhere and spend your time wisely. as they would love to keep you and use you till you're exhausted or past it.

When I first started the job was fairly easy and was great for work life balance being able to finish work around 5-6 pm. They later increased to number of packages and deliveries so work days were a lot longer coupled with a bad routing system you could work until as late as 9 pm in Niagara or just maybe get back to the warehouse for 11 pm. It was not uncommon to work between 110-140 hours in 2 weeks with no weekends. Poor hiring choices resulted in incapable/ dangerous  drivers and helpers who were never trained by management besides using the phone on orientation day. Sporadic routing , good one day but absolutely atrocious the next.  Not uncommon to miss at least 1 day of work every week because you would be burnt out delivering 200 piece kitchens multiple times a week if not in day . If you worked with an employee the day might be manageable but more than likely you would get a temp and that would result in a hope and prayer your day would end without issue. Management was either not present or new and inexperienced, was bad enough that HR didn’t stick around that long either.

Not getting paid hourly wage anymore

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment in gobolt was not a good one,the management, they did not care about their staffing and treated us like trash. For example my position was a driver's assistant for deliveries. The company would pair me incompetent drivers. Where most of them were temp employees who frequently will get into accidents on the road. I had been on two accidents with temps and requested not to be partner with them anymore, but they ignore my request. They also had change my hourly wage to a salary wage, where only get paid by deliveries. Which i was not getting paid more or the same amount i was getting before since they got rid of the hourly wage.



What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Hectic, confusing and stressful

The way employees were treated within the company was disheartening. There was a distinct lack of respect and appreciation for the hard work and dedication exhibited by the employees. Management seemed to have little regard for their well-being and failed to provide a supportive and nurturing work environment. Employee concerns and suggestions were often dismissed or ignored, leading to a demoralized workforce.
Perhaps the most distressing aspect of my time at Go Bolt Technologies was the sudden and unfunded layoff that occurred during my tenure. Employees were blindsided by this decision, and there was a complete lack of transparency regarding the company's financial situation. It became evident that the well-being of the employees was not a priority for the management, and their actions exhibited a callous disregard for the livelihoods of those affected.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Warehouse Operations team work collaborative together to drive site success, although, hampered by the ELT and senior operations management who WFH and minimal support and leadership. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most challenging aspect of working at the company is navigating a results-oriented industry without effective leadership, tools, or cross-departmental collaboration to achieve ambitious goals.

While the company values "Ideas over hierarchy" as one of its core values, there seems to be a lack of appreciation for non-corporate input on business matters.

Effective leadership goes beyond titles; it requires active participation and contribution to the team's success.

Drivers in Markham faced a pay cut that was stopped only by walking off the job. Discipline was often erratic and arbitrary. The EV vans we drove were ill-equipped for Canadian winters and were frankly a safety hazard. Any and all issues we brought up every day to management were ignored.

We joined a union to protect ourselves, and the company couldn't just fire us so they tried to force us to leave by subjecting us to a campaign of harsh discipline, denial of time off for major life events and deaths in the family, nitpicking over extremely minor issues, and continuing to refuse to address any issues while pushing all responsibility for inefficiencies in the company down on to us. 

Just before our third bargaining session to get a union contract the company decided to fire all drivers, apparantly across North America.  

My time at GoBolt was genuinely rewarding. 

From day one, I was struck by the strong sense of team spirit that runs through the company. It’s a workplace where collaboration feels natural, and people support each other in meaningful ways. One standout aspect is that it’s a dog-friendly space.

Mark (the CEO), in particular, stands out as an inspiring leader. His vision and presence shape much of the positive culture at GoBolt, and it’s clear that his leadership motivates teams across the organization. He brings both clarity and energy to the table, and that has a ripple effect. As I was placed amongst the fun and inspiring members - I can see the team is awesome!

Overall, I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with such a passionate group of people. The experience left a strong impression on me, and I’ll carry the lessons and connections forward.


Bolt logistics is a startup company with very little management experience. The CEO only had 1 year of teaching experience and no prior working experience and it shows in their management team. I work in one of their warehouse while I was studying and the supervisors, managers know nothing about operation development. Their operation is very messy from top to bottom, all they care about is the number of delivered units per day which is unachievable because there are items scattered everywhere in the warehouse with no previous planning. I came across expired products multiple times, some have expired for a month. It's a good place to work if you are looking for something temporary or you are a student. 

After working here for a year I’ve watched happy people turn into upset and disgruntled employees. 
Used to be a chilled work environment. Progressively turning into a constant rush and stressful work environment. 
Pay was alright. Then they changed it for the worse and tried to lie to everybody’s face about it. With promises of better pay when in reality it’s a pay reduction. More work same pay. 
Always a shortage of equipment to do your job properly. 

0 job security. 
Personally I never missed a day of work. Always did my job correctly and professionally and with a smile. Then one day I got fired without cause (manager refused to elaborate) 
Because this is a contractor position you have 0 job security. 

Work here if you must. People on the field are good people. Management on the other hand…0/10 


If you come into Second Closet with positivity and the understanding that a young company needs people who are adaptable and willing to go above and beyond, the potential for advancement and growth within the place is second to none. This is going to be an extremely successful company within a short span of time, it already is really, and as it grows you have an opportunity to grow with it. There will be stressful days on the way to that point, but the team is supportive, collaborative and you can really find a home here.
