Don't get me wrong the management seemed nice, but the formans expected to much from low level apprentices with speed while providing no structure of learning. How is one suppose to be "faster" when looking through a bag of mixed fittings a foot away from the journeyman?  Foremans in the south teach not to  following proper and basic procedure when doing pipe systems (like reaming)...  as it been told it was not needed when in fact burs can cause pressure loss and turbulence to flow.

  Poor communication while the giving tasks, very broad half task then blame for not doing something that's never been tasked to do in the first place. Overall the red deer area formans aren't good teachers and expect to have speed with flawless from low experience workers.  Speed comes with experience. They need to focus on teaching proper practice and procedures  to apprentices better.

Racism, homophobia, and misogyny runs rampant through the foremen and management, have seen it first hand. They expect too much for too little out of their workers with no recognition from upper management. 

Work atmosphere is very reminiscent of high school. If you’re not part of the "cool group" it’s noticed and they talk down to you and then behind your back. Certain individuals seem to have immunity because of who they know, while others are held on a short leash if they are less tenured. 

When it comes to plumbing it’s same stuff as any other commercial company in the city. My advice if you get a job here is keep your head down and stay quiet to avoid a lot of pointless drama and stress.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Very busy, very fulfilling, gratifying to achieve progress and goals on a daily basis

-working overtime with no overtime pay
-very "clicky" work atmosphere
-get screwed on pay at every opportunity
-so you want to work for gold bar? how desperate are you?
-"do as I say or else" style management
-Feels like a playground for the owners kids to push their weight around 
-should be called lead bar because I never found any gold there and every day made you feel a little closer to death
-way too much friends and family in management 
-micro-managing
-the descent foremen don't stay long
-unrealistic timelines


They only pay out overtime every 3 months, so If you miss a day in that span all overtime you collected will be worthless. They forced me to work through the holidays in 2021, only had Christmas eve off. Took off 2 days before new year and that nulled all overtime I earned that month. 200 hours in the month of December all in regular time. Also the job shacks are too small so you'll be fighting for a place to eat lunch everyday 

had a good time working here  although short lived, office staff  rarely visit makes for poor  moral  and when they do visit nothing is ever done right. don't put enough trust in foremen  to do the job, send too many  unskilled 1st years to work with 1 journeyman.

lots of work but low pay as an apprentice, some workers are good and some others have big egos and can make your day hard. expect to be digging trenches with shovels and carrying wheelbarrows full of dirt. if you need time off the company is good for it

having not worked construction before this job i was unsure of what to expect, but enjoying the experience and interactions with people on the crew and on site was uplifting and generally a good time. work days were long, but with something to be done constantly the hours flew by.

If you're a fast learner and can problem solve you will do well. Very much a "figure it out" kind of place. It has its problems when you get into larger scale jobs but gets sorted.

There is never a shortage of things to do and lots of opportunity to excel in work you want to take on.  If you show interest in wanting to grow they will give you that chance.
