A typical day consisted of being at work at 6:00 am where I would spend the first hour of my 12 hour day preparing to go underground.  Once underground, we would head to our target areas in the mind and observe the results of fresh blast zones. We would collect samples from the blast and send them to the lab to get the estimated grade of the ore. After samples were collected I would mark up a new blast zone on the face and come back the next day to review the results of new blast zones. After the underground work was complete I would go back to the office on surface and input the information I collected underground into various different software programs, such as AutoCAD. Once the office work was complete, we would prepare notes for our cross shift and then head home for the day. A typical day lasted about 12 hours. I was on a 10 day on and 10 day off work rotation.

management... never really had any one on one with any managers...95% of my relationship with management was with shifters and their all good at what they do.
co-workers...... my co-workers are and always will be my support and strength to get threw being away from home and getting the job done safely.

enjoyable part.... meeting new people,learning new things

- Meet with contractors daily to discuss safety and work related activities.
- Manage costs for ongoing and upcoming projects.
- Daily interactions with my project group to align on priorities and align on the necessary steps to mitigate concerns.
- Hardest part of the job was dealing with situations when I am off site as I worked in a camp environment.
- The most enjoyable part of the job was working with a diverse group of individuals and gaining consensus on deliverables.

I feel if you wish to get away to what I would call GODs country this is a beautiful and wonderful community to raise a family and if you would like to work for a company that believes that safety is the most important thing and ensures the safety of its workers this is the place you want to be. The only down fall is that it takes you 5 hrs to drive to the major city, The community in the redlake area all feel Like family once you get to know the people everyone is always willing to help each other and the Doctors are also very good I will really miss everyone that touched our lives

A typical day consists of supervising up to 30 part time contractors for various projects (surface and underground) 

I have learned a lot about the installation and commissioning  of various types  of stationary mining and milling equipment. 

Management is very helpful and vibrant have a strong commitment to workplace safety.

my co-workers are very knowledgeable in there jobs and are eager to lend a hand. 

Dealing with multiple departments to complete tasks.

i'ts unfortunate, in less then 2 years this place went from the best place to work to the worse.. to people are so stressed.. a fatality occurred due to a high stress load and pressure to perform.. it's real sad the management has failed  properly lead this place, what real sad is that all management had a complete change over within this time..  pro..  this is a good place for a young person to get experience and then leave.. most supervisors are young, and change over is high.

Never the same from one day to the next, always busy. 

Management varied, newer management were more open to new ideas, staff that had been with the company longer were very set in their ways. 

Had a great team to work with, everyone worked well together.

Being strict with myself not to take on more than I could handle, very difficult at times.

Working with a great bunch of people that supported each other.

They need to speak to there employees for feed back on operations. They say safety is important but policies not fall owed at all times. Supervisors are not compatant only reason they are in these positions is they worry about there bottom line and not safety, crew function, crew morale or any feedback from there employees. Some have even been black balled because they speak up for crew or quote the Health and safety act. Someone in head office needs to investigate more.

Gold Corp is a great company to work for, the management team only has a goal for the workforce to be safe and have the people go home to their families.   People have got to understand that it’s the way industry is going and for myself I enjoyed working for a company that has a strong emphasis on safety and to hold the workforce to the same standards.  The pay was excellent and the conditions were a typical mining environment.  Excellent co-workers .

All  in all this is a great company to work for . They have great benefits and ethics code. My management and co-worker we top notch. Most enjoyable part was meeting and greeting the employees each day as they came to and from work. The hard part was dealing with injuries, most times it was someone you knew,thats not fun.
