Incompetent and undeserving people have been hired at managerial positions.There is overall a forgiving and shut eye culture here,so even if you are the best and sharpest in the group it does not matter as you will be grouped with all the tom dick and harries!! Its even worst if the group and the group leader have incredible communication problems.
Perhaps only three departments have reasonable Managers and team members,So when you interview here make sure you evaluate your Manager well,Do not get fooled by the big office and lovely HR.
However Its an awesome place if you are just starting your career (since you will have nothing to compare it with :)),Good platform for getting third party trainings. But if you are seasoned,experienced and worked with the best people,look for alternatives.....

I had the opportunity of working here. It's a great place to get your feet wet. You learn all that you need to grow within the food industry as a QA professional. But changes need to be made with management. There are certain employees that have been working here for 20 years or more (management side) who really don't have a clue of how to do their job. But their tribal knowledge is what is keeping them here. Making others complete their tasks and taking all the credit is something that is very common here. 

As long as you're on the good side of the management you will be able to grow, but if you don't get along with certain people in  management they will do everything in their power to get you to leave on your own. 

But the gem of this place is definitely the people on the floor. If it wasn't for them people like me would have left in 2 weeks! 

I enjoyed the actual work and got along with the floor and most of the management at Golden Boy.

Unfortunately great and obvious efforts are made in this company to work employees hard and pay them as little as the government will allow. To that end they hire people with new English skills and very little knowledge of worker's rights in Canada.

In spite of that the cream always rises and the team work and spirit you will see on the floor is contagious. The pay was terrible and the hours were long - but as a mechanic I always felt compelled to provide the best service for the machine operators because they deserved it.

Working at golden boy foods was good for me I learnt about safety everyday being very carful around the machines it's a bit of both very fast pace and slow pace  boxes can come down the assembly line to be put on pallets very fast and it's easy to fall a bit behind but there's always some to help you if you fall behind a manager or worker always there to help and putting penuts in the boxes they bunch up on the way to the way to the pickers or get Bucher up in the machine on the way to the pickers but it gets sorted out very quickly no complaints here loved working there 


 

New ownership operates in a quick and dirty cut throat approach of managing people and operation. No long term investment in people and program development. Management tries to scam customers and treats employees badly. Work force is made up of 90% temperary labourers. Employees disappear suddenly and mysteriously with no explanation from management. People are scared to speak up and participate. Company carries poor reputation in the food industry.

Maintain and exceed productivity levels according to plant goals.    Coordinate daily and weekly production plans with department leaders in assigned work areas.Maintain daily labor, attendance records and payroll.   
Work with management in a joint effort to provide employees with a safe working environment.  
Continuous improvement of the manufacturing process, efficiencies & quality

People unwilling to accept and help new hires. Management unwilling to try and fix the problems at hand. Way to long hours, horrible pay for the job. Quite honestly nothing goo to say about this location (Burnaby) They are the bottom of the barrel in the Post Holdings group of companies and it shows. There is no respect given to anyone who disagrees with them. Employees sabotage new hires by tampering with orders and abusing them mentally and talking behind your back. Run, don't walk away

Working as a production supervisor have a lot of responsibilities and scheduling and health and safety improvement and managing conflicts within the employees and being strict with employees on polices and procedure and train employees on HACCP and GMP And all these responsibilities I enjoy doing it with lot of experience in the food industry

They ran out of masks during covid 19 but still expects people to work there. Poor communications I booked days of for dental surgery but no one told anyone and I was blamed. When I showed the paperwork for the booked day off they made some other excuse up about another day.

Bullying and anxiety, so many turn over and resignation due to poor management. This is not a happy place for most of the employee that works hard because favoritism seems to be the only way to be recognized for hard work done. Team lead and coordinator tends to micro manage and talk to you in a condescending tone.... DON'T GO THERE!
