Every franchise is owned by the same group of friends/family, so if you fail at one location it's super hard to get hired at another one, even with the right credentials. At my location, the owners were strict, frugal, and had unrealistic expectations--I was never praised or appreciated for my work, 
watched through the security camera, chastised for every mistake, and left with shattered confidence. 
- I underwent training for 3 months before I was given my employment papers. Training was lonely. This was my first food service job so the actual barista stuff was a big learning curve but it was nothing compared to the complete lack of empathy and suffering ridicule after every mistake. If you're not instantly good at the job, they will judge you hard (literally my first training shift they glowered at me and said "you're using too much water, you need to be faster x5, there is still one drop of syrup in this cup, you dropped a pearl in the sink, you dropped a tea leaf that's wasteful, you made a mess on the floor").
- Furthermore, if you have any mental illnesses or disabilities that affect your attendance DO NOT WORK HERE. You will be looked down upon and invalidated if your illness prevents your efficiency.
- The environment was toxic, too. Coworkers who would smile to your face but then laugh at you behind your back, blame you for messing up during a rush, or make you do anything they didn't want to do like cleaning the washroom. We did bond over a mutual hatred for management. I only ever had 1 nice coworker. 
**Honestly, a free drink every 4 hours IS NOT WORTH IT. I loved making drinks and waffles and seeing customers smile but I dreaded coming to work because of always being put down and treated differently. You'd be better off taking pictures of the tea, topping, and drink recipes and then making them at home.

Every Gong cha in our city is owned by the same people. They usually hire family/friends which means they are fairly biased and favoured towards certain employees. I did not personally know the owners therefore was treated poorly by management. I was given only 1 shift a week while others had 4-5 from the start. They would constantly tell me that I was “slow” and nitpick everything I did. I also heard the boss trash talk me in another language in the back too... It was honestly hard to become better and efficient at this job because I was given so little hours to practice and improve. They would barely train you and the manger I had was rude and lacked patience towards people who struggle in the beginning. The job itself was not hard but the management made it unbearable..

Honestly just your standard, run of the mill service job. Pay is minimum wage with basically no room for advancement, even those working full time and sometimes overtime don’t get paid more. Management at my store was lacklustre, nice but not organized or anything to write home about. Coworkers made the job for me, worked with all college students in a college town which is pretty fun. Not a long term gig, but fine for short term. Also working with 4+ different delivery services is the worst. 

Working at Gongcha Canada has taught me many things. I was able to polish my customer service skills as well as improve my communication skills. I've become an active leader within this friendly group. Everyone works with the same goal; we always provide the best customer service, top notch beverages at precise accuracy. The hardest part with this job is the very unpredictable rush of customers. The most enjoyable part of the job is the bubble tea.

A great first job if you’re in high school or in need of a part-time job, and definitely appealing if you like bubble tea. Unfortunately, their were too many problems that are pretty much down to the management of this particular store itself. Management is a complete mess. It did not feel like a stable job and was an uncomfortable environment because of management. So again, a good starter job but should definitely only be temporary. 

What I've learned is that I know what I'm capable of and what position I'm suitable for. Some colleagues were really supportive and funny but a few didn't appear to be friendly and welcome newcomers. Management was pretty bad, it wasn't constructive and tolerance enough. The most enjoyable part of the job is that I could interact with customers when I was in front. It helped build my confidence, my communication skills and my upselling skills.

A typical day at work includes taking orders, making drinks, and serving customers. I learned customer service, teamwork, and time management. Management is supportive and clear. The workplace culture is friendly and fast-paced. The hardest part is working during busy hours. The most enjoyable part is working with my team and helping customers.

Schedules for the week are sent on either Saturday night or Sunday night, they need a 2 week notice and valid reason for day off but schedule is delivered incredibly late.
They never tell us how much the store made in tips even though we asked plenty of times for the amount of tips collected, very understaffed and most likely the entirety of the store's duties will have to be done by only one person on shift

I've learnt a few sales related skills to enhance efficiency in complimenting customer service. Management is always on point, coworkers are friendly. The most difficult part of the job is always battling excessive rushes with an understaffed team. The most enjoyable part of the job was the atmosphere. It was a very upbeat hyped environment.
