I had doubts about this place before I even started working there. They have no hoist, wheel removers, greasers, and other major equipment. They don't do warranty repairs (engines/trans),no leadership or shop computer for everyone. One guy hogs the truck repairs and maintenance, while the rest work on trailers and tires or taking out the garbage. Half the time, there is not much to do, and the previous foreman lasted 1.5 months because the mechanics didn't want to take orders or cooperate. This place is not a real shop but an after thought. There is no structure or order in the shop and they are lacking a foreman/manager that has mechanical experience. Like the previous foreman, i was being ignored and had to constantly ask for a job to do. They are really looking for a tire and trailer guy, so don't be sorely disappointed. Please BEWARE, this company is desperate and would quickly hire only to realize its a revolving door. I missed an interview opportunity because i was stuck here. Poor HR is wondering why there is a high turnover in the shop.

start by contacting drivers, get updates on location and hours 
update clients.
build loads for outsourced freight. have warehouse staff pick and line up freight. call in carriers 
pickup freight for retail customers have that freight sorted, weighed and lined up for company line haul. 2-3 loads a day.
prepare run sheets, load card and driver manifest.
update tracking sheets and document all moves/ time in time out/dates.
create ASN for local moves from connecting terminals in Calgary AB and Edmonton AB and Winnipeg MB 
do the same for all west coast and east coast loads.
light task on the dock: weighing freight/locating, ensuring all necessary is loaded correctly and timely 
tasks are managed through excel and outlook.
I was required to keep a company cell phone to keep up with all dispatch activity around the clock.

I have been in the HR field for 5 years (Walmart as well as Graphic Transportation), my passion is HR and I have been onboarding, recruiting, training/coaching for a few years. I am the co-chair of the health and safety committee and carry out investigations as well. I have also completed my education in Human Resource management. I have also had training completed in the Canada Labour code and have absorbed myself with legislations and regulations. I have created many policies and procedures which Graphic Transportation now abide with. At the Bank of Montreal, I worked in many positions where research, contract bindings and analytical thinking was required.

Driver job hiring continues but no work for drivers those already in the company.
They just give full hours to new drivers for 3 to 4 weeks just to make sure new drivers stay after that they start laying off them.

Just 3 days  max in  a week drivers work right now.
Some drivers only have 2 shift per week.
Shift start time also changes like one day its 5 am and next day its 4 pm.  This company is done.   Most of new hire leave this company in a month.

•	Check all load-related documentation to ensure the accuracy of freight and report any discrepancies to the warehouse supervisor.
•	Ensure all housekeeping procedures are maintained on a daily basis to ensure a safe working environment in compliance with applicable Acts and regulations.
•	Separation of received freights into designated cities, complete documentation and place in specified area.
•	Complete all necessary paperwork during and at the end of the shift. May include, but not limited to, off-load sheets, load cards or manifests and warehouse time sheets.
•	Train others when required

It is a fun place to work because i am very familiar with everything and very comfortable with the guys i am working with.There is a lot of excitement when new tasks are given to me and it gives me a lot of satisfaction when I do get the job done. There is a lot of variety in my everyday responsibility (shipping, receiving, picking and packing) depends on my supervisor's priority at the moment.

When first hired here everything ran smooth, management treated you pretty good and it was a good place to come. within the last year and a half though, it’s really gone down hill. They have gotten rid of most of their older good drivers to replace them with cheaper inexperienced drivers. Dispatch seems to always be scrambling, and the shop seems like they can barely keep up with repairs and services. Management all seem to have the mind set that if you don’t like something they choose well then there is the door. All in all 4 years ago this company would have been great to work for but now it’s gone down.

Dispatch is I disaster, no organization, No communication with each other sometimes sending two trucks to work pick up one trailer when a driver needs advice from dispatch they say they will call you back and most of the time it takes almost an hour Also human resource very rarely picks up the phone and or get to see you the same day. They definitely favour drivers. I’m surprised That this company is still afloat but I don’t see it for long dispatch is doing a good job on screwing it up and not valuing the drivers that go beyond the call of duty for

Slow, nothing to do. Management doesn't care,

The hours, the slowness and not having anything to do but sweep 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Nepotism. The owners let the senior ppl do nothing and break the rules. Lots of favoritism.

Boring and slow , waiting for the 2 trucks that Come in

I enjoyed working at Graphic Transportation, it was a professional organization, very helpful co-workers.
My Day started by checking e-mail and providing info as requested to our clients and vendors. receiving invoices and entering in the system followed by completing billing cycle.
