I joined Graybar in Vaughan some years back, investing three years of dedication to the team. Unfortunately, my journey abruptly ended with a termination labeled as a "poor fit." While such actions are legal, they typically apply to new hires or those significantly impacting company culture negatively. Oddly, I received no prior warnings or feedback suggesting I wasn't a good fit. Contrary to management's decision, my peers had a different perspective. Disturbingly, I observed others facing similar dubious exits.

During the termination meeting, no concrete reason was provided, directing me to contact HR for clarification. However, HR was clueless about the specifics, offering only the vague term "poor fit." Requests for clarification yielded no response.

My intention in sharing this feedback isn't borne out of disgruntlement but rather a desire to alert current and prospective Graybar employees, especially those considering the Vaughan location

Notably, the management, including the Operations Manager and Customer Service Supervisor, fosters an unsettling work environment. Favoritism runs rampant, with select individuals evading performance scrutiny despite lackluster efforts. Tasks are distributed inequitably, with non-favored employees subjected to unfair treatment, evident in targeted actions by management.

Prospective applicants should exercise caution, as the toxic work culture at Graybar's Vaughan branch warrants thoughtful consideration before making any commitments.

The work itself isn’t bad or too intensive. The worst is when you occasionally have to cut thick heavy electrical wire but if you’re smart you grab a co-worker to make it easier. Day to day consists of picking and packing orders, receiving and stocking inventory as well as daily cleaning and housekeeping tasks. It’s fairly easy and only gets difficult if you make it difficult. 

Hope for good fellow warehouse support because it can be tough if you’re the only one capable/willing to do the more labour intensive tasks. This became a ongoing issue with management consistently making poor hiring decisions but I would assume that’s changed. 

The company wants you to be committed to a career there in order to have your salary increase by significant amounts. Warehouse Support is not something you could make a comfortable living on. Make sure to say all the right things in yearly reviews even if you don’t plan on staying long term. 

You’ll learn a lot, receive good discounts on household items (light bulbs, switches, HDMI cords etc.) and work with some great people. In addition, it’s steady days with a very rare Saturday scheduled if clean up needs to happen. 

If you’re a young recent graduate who just wants work experience, or a young adult who lives at home with little to no bills, I recommend it. 

Management needs an overhaul. Instead of being "buddy buddy" with everyone, you need to correct the mistakes before they get worse.

A typical day includes either sitting around doing nothing or working hard with little acknowledgement from the higher ups. 

This culture of this workplace is very complex meaning that you have to be management or a salesperson to get any kind of recognition or reward for work. favoritism is a better way to sum it all up.

All in all Graybar is a great place to work for if you don't mind staying in one place for a very long time in hopes of something opening up and then receiving the bare minimum in terms of a raise. But they promote a great core of a team in hopes to take you far. 

It is a beautiful environment with wonderful people. My work is general where I support the warehouse in receiving, putting away, order picking and investigations.
I inherited many problems and right away I started dicusing ways for improvemnet. As a result of these, a lot are left in my hands so that I continue the improvement processes. This has brought too much work load on me and hence the hardest part.
I have been able to put some measures which have brought immense contributions to the processes. I enjoyed my work because the changes I effected and the new ideas have brought positive results reducing peoples frustrations. We are able to serve costumers better and all these results are felt throughout the organizations.

I would arrive, sit at my desk, then proceed with my day. I would answer phone calls, transfer phone calls, file transactions, photocopy transactions, and run shipment information between the warehouse and the manager. My managers were lovely people and extremely flexible. My co-workers were a lot older than me but treated my professionally and no different than anyone else in the company. The hardest part of the job was being everywhere at once; answering the phones, making copies, filing, and handling ship information all at once. The most enjoyable part of the job was being in a professional environment, it was good preparation for my future.

Overall good company to work for. Went downhill at our branch when current manager was hired for the job. All the employees would complain about him when he was not around. Only two of us were willing to let him know to his face what we thought of his views and actions. This is why I no longer work there. Too bad because I liked the company but one person ruined it for me. It was a fast paced, very educational regarding electrical industry. Co workers other than manager were easy to work with. Lots of laughs. Overall good place to work if you can tolerate having a "BOSS" and not a manager!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The fact the manager had no communication and a poor attitude you most customers, complete unwillingness to know most and disliked them even though they are not known to him. Wouldn't talk to most people or employees

Very liberal, more concerned with inclusion and political issues

Very  little interaction between employees, especially among people in Finance. Work day flies by because of insane amount of work. Have hardly no time to look up from desk, even though some people go for 15+ smoke breaks! HR seemed disinterested about me, but one Executive employee did make a point of making me feel included in Employee Recognition events.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The only good thing was the company events.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Dealing with management and having an overloaded work taks.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It is a toxic environment. Even though there are claims they are diverse, the older employees are very descriminative and prejudiced.

Being yelled at and told orders are behind and no help given.

What is the best part of working at the company?
You don’t have to rush anything.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
When trying to meet shorter deadlines.

Its good, flexible to anyone working to the company.

Always start scanning my email, and answer priority one’s then always double checking my to do list, and a cup of coffee.
