I enjoy working with people, making a difference in day to day living. Being in management I was given the opportunity to help make the atmosphere more positive, productive, and a fun place to work in. I have set goals in any job I do and I work very hard to meet those goals. The hardest part of being in management is that some of the decisions you make don't make everyone happy but they are decisions that have to be made. If needed I am able to start work at any time I am currently not working. Thank you

Most of the staff at GEF are terribly under appreciated.
The senior management at central office and the board of directors have taken what was once an amazing company that valued its employees and truly cared about seniors and their quality of life, and absolutely destroyed it.
GEF is a sinking ship and I would strongly advise people thinking about working at GEF to look elsewhere.

I had many happy years with the Greater Edmonton Foundation.  I started as a casual as everyone did.  I worked at many of their lodges until a job posting came up for a front desk receptionist at the new lodge McQueen place.  I applied for that position and was accepted.  I was the first person the new seniors met as they moved in.  What a wonderful place to work, I was so happy there.

Management treat employees well. All staff are very respectful to residents and each other. Excellent training. Workplace culture is positive, pleasant, and collaborative. Position can be stressful but management is understanding, compassionate, and helpful. I was an evening contract temp at the busiest GEF location downtown and was very impressed with all staff.

company hires and fires without attention to legislation, neepotism, director and HR afraid of conflict and never resolved problems, too much work and not recognized for it

A place to work for working students.  There are lots of time where you can use to study your lessons, management encourage their employees to upgrade

GEF on a whole is a great company to work for 
The problem is most juniors managers acting like the lodge that they manage belong to them . They set up employees against themselves and if you are their friends you get away with everything.

The policies and procedures for work safety is good. Management care about working safely and balancing life and work. There are a lot of good benefits as a full time employee and good hours.


They don't give over time as much as they used to.

My experience in working working with Greater Edmonton Foundation  was not positive. I found that the people managing this company were promoted way beyond their competency level.

Good benefits and wages.  They provide free lunches every meeting and the management was great when I was still there.
I really enjoyed working with seniors.
