In a typical day, I check in with the group of high school students that I work with and ensure that they are on track to meet their short and long term goals. I meet with students and provide whatever it is that they need to help them be successful. For some students, this may include (but not be limited to) to the following: offering a listening ear and providing counsel, completing mediations when communications have broken down with another student, completing assessment to determine the needs of a student, liaising with and providing community supports and resources to bridge gaps that act as barriers to learning, offering tutoring and/or schoolwork assistance... etc. There is no typical day, because the needs of students are fluid and I am to be flexible to meet whatever challenges they are facing of that day. 

I work as part of a multidisciplinary team, who works together to figure out what each student needs to be successful and addressing the gaps that exist. The hardest part of the job is to convince some staff members of the legitimacy of the program and that it is as important as academics, when the barrier to a student's success may be something unrelated to school. The most rewarding part of my job is to see that I can meet at need that a student has, which may not have been met if I was not there. It's not often that teenagers can see the big picture and the eventual outcome of my intervention, but when one can and says thank you, it makes my day.

Challenging at times due to violent students but they have behavior teams to assist 
Takes a while to get full time so the rate of pay is too low for the job duties ( even after pay hike the duties don't match the pay)
Good benefits 
If you get the opportunity to work with a strong, caring team it can be a wonderful place to work/ if not a good team can be a nightmare 
Burn out is a definite draw back 
At times can be very rewarding and at others can be very frustrating

Being overworked and underpaid. I worked 2 part time jobs while working full time

Very stressful. Administration made doing my job difficult

Very busy and stressful trying to meet the needs of the students under my care with very little support

A typical day at work was very relaxed and fairly routine. It involved routine cleaning of lockers and other areas of the school. I've learned to be very patient when performing my work as some things cannot be completed quickly. The hardest part of the job was the physical aspect and working in the heat in the summer. The most enjoyable part of the job was the relaxed-pace and chance to cooperate w coworkers.

I worked at many different schools in the GECDSB system. Some schools were wonderful to work at and others not so much!

The Principal made all the difference. They controlled the school culture, which diffused into the classroom culture. The Principal sets the tone and everyone picks up on it and that will define the schools climate and culture.

I did the research about the principals learning teams in Windsor with a teacher consultant of Greater Essex County District School Board and my classmate.
I did literature reviews, survey and interview during the process in order to find ways to improve the principals learning teams with finishing a research paper.
I conducted the presentation of the result to teacher consultants and the professor of university.

Work  for  kids   as lunch  time

Pro staff is   good  company  not a stressful

As a supply(substitute) teacher I find that the work and the work conditions are very good.  My only issue is the lack of consistency in the work despite being in this position for over ten years.  I feel that seniority and acceptance rate(taking jobs when called) should be given more consideration when allocating assignments.

While I love this job and co-workers always make it better, the board needs to prioritize it's employees working with students experiencing significant behavioural challenges. 

The rate of pay for EAs is lower than most boards so it does not feel like our position is valued.
