Work is well divided among the departments and that does not only make the work manageable, but also organized. I have learned to register new clients into the database, conduct receptionist duties, i.e. man the desk while answering calls and helping GVFBS members. I learned that their management was well-structured and clearly useful given the organization's size. Co-workers were a joy to work with. They were helpful, friendly, and fair. Hardest part of the job was manning the receptionist's desk as the receptionist represents the fence and front-man of the organization. Most enjoyable part of the job was the feeling that I was contributing all my efforts and skills for a greater cause, when clients would come in and say thank you after I have helped them with what they need.

Working for this organization was one of the most difficult experiences I've had in my career. It started off great but quickly took a turn with extensive turnover. Very unethical circumstances and approaches taken. 
Management was extremely top-down and focused on the business aspect of food security over the community's needs and respect. Employees are discouraged to share their opinions if they don't reflect that of senior management. 

The work environment at the GVFB can be great if you're part of the inner circle, but unfortunately, management tends to favour certain people while excluding others. They also allow employees to bully their coworkers, which is really disheartening. I've never seen such blatant favouritism in an organization; honestly, it’s disappointing and sad. 

Toxic work culture with terrible management and a high turnover rate. 

Employees that are liked will be treated well, but if you ever disagree with management, good luck. 

Actually really good benefits, and decent salary for a non-profit. Lovely volunteers and the work you do is important. Just be prepared for incompetent managers who will micro manage, show blatant favoritism, and yell at you for no reason. 

The GVFB is a fantastic company. Their supports for employees are strong, and they encourage change for the better and find ways to support employees in their day to day tasks as well as any ideas that they may have to help advance the company.

If you are looking to get some growth personally this is an excellent work environment. If you are seasoned and are looking to set up retirement savings and meet life needs this is not the ideal place to work at. Also the work life balance is amazing here.

I Didn’t listen to the reviews previously posted that labeled this as a toxic workplace and learned the hard way. Management is very toxic and immature and are only “nice” when you agree with everything they say.

Great initiatives but management is too top heavy. Although staff are passionate about what they do and the cause  Nothing gets done because management puts up barriers. The projects that they do take on are not fully thought through

Having volunteered at other food banks, I found the GVFB to be especially organized, with a well-functioning system of goods separation within the place and distribution outside to the people.
