Trucks are all old and falling apart. Half of them shouldn't be on the road. You could send in something for repair, something that DOT would ticket you for driving with, and they'd send it right back out. Arguing with managers was useless; all but one were entitled and useless idiots.  

You're replaceable. Typical day is around 1400 houses. I averaged 40 steps per property, including the stairs. You go up and down stairs at each house. that was 56000 steps per day, and 8400 stairs per day, 4 days a week (Monday through Thursday). And that was a good day. Most days, one or four trucks would break down and you'd end up on someone else's route after doing your own. If you want to feel bodily pain, and be on wcb every couple months, go be a garbage man. 

Company did supply good ppe, but work clothing was poor. 

Wage looked great on paper but not so great after 16 hour workdays pounding pavement four days straight.

Management from top to bottom and Leads r great people, they care about your well being, be careful of the people under them,  in the residential pick up division of the company, asl, a couple slime balls, pass off their areas to make you work harder as they sit back on their heels, dfr's, Other than that this is a great company to work for, office staff is friendly, awesome shop, mechanics are great people

GFL is a great place to work I enjoy the people that I work along with and I enjoy the work...the most enjoyable part of the job is that I get to work outside all day and get to see different things and cultures in the city.  I have learned alot about the garbage industry with this company... I have learned to respect the rules and regulations of the road while driving a big truck.

Very lack luster leadership. Extremely slow moving to improve anything if at all. Poorly maintained equipment. Poor maintenance practices. Very bad work load management (dispatch). Training is done by drivers that have little training experience as the low level management (operations department) does not know how to run the equipment. Customers hate you due to terrible company practices and service. 


You cannot beat 4 days a week, 1 more day to spend with your family, long weekend every weekend. The work is great and consistent, fun if your positive.

with in the short 7 months of working there i have notice a improvement in my time management my ability to work under presser, along with that all the co-workers i have personally worked with have been a wholesome bunch of people that look out for each other and the management is really balanced between the mangers being there and out to their offices and customer have mostly been friendly

12-14 hour days mostly
management has issues because upper management gives them limited options  and resources so  stuff falls down to the employees to figure out and complete.

during the down season they cut trucks and keep you moving at 100% so you never get a break 

If you want to work a lot for 4 days get good pay and just keep your head down its a great place.

Good job if you have stamina to load the truck all day as a loader only and always something interesting happen through out the day but be prepared for trucks having issues breaking down while on route and careful of some customer getting aggressive sometimes 

10 to 13 hours a day Tue to Fri.
Safety meeting every week. 
Good for new drivers to learn commercial driver industry.
Good pay Good benefit
Physical work with drive.
If you work with partner, usually switch every hour drive and load.
If you do not like to drive all day, this is a good job.

Absolutely horrible place to work management has no clue what they are doing routing equipment breaks all the time they simply don't care about you at all or your needs they got rid of me twice and asked me to come back because my replacement driver got a drunk driving charge total liars and horrible environment
