I have worked a lot of jobs in the past 25 years, I worked for Blueweed Vegetation Control - the industrial business unit of Green Oasis after COVID had me displaced from my career path during Summer/Fall 2020.

From early on, it was apparent management and ownership were both integral and invested parties in the day to day operation and direction of both companies. If you ever want to work somewhere with clear direction, guidelines, expectations - this is the job for you.

Day to day, get to shop and get changed into company supplied gear, coveralls for industrial crews. Check board for what unit you are in, get gear and lunch into truck and check info for whatever mix you are spraying for the day and what is in the tanks. Have some brief convo with supervisors who are always around early, if required. Drive to location, complete safety paperwork for daily hazard assessment and get to work. Dealing with customer representatives is part of the job, professionalism is stressed and appreciated by management.

Sliding scale seasonal retention bonus at end of year is fantastic, if you clear certain thresholds of hours worked, you are eligible for increasing bonuses.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Time requirement, time off requests are respected if done with advance but expect to work the whole summer, 7 days a week.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Hard work is emphasized and rewarded well with regular pay raises. They seem to genuinely care about the wellbeing of workers with reminders about safety and taking breaks, small prizes for work throughout the season.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Start time is 530 every day, get your work stack at the same place and meet up with the crew which is rotated around day by day, you will get to know and become friends with everyone you work with which is largely other seasonal employees/college students.

Typically hire four month summer positions. Work is steady, but busy don't expect to get a day off unless it rains. Early start time and late finish. Understand that you will work most weekends. That being said the management is one of the best I've worked for so they will be understanding if you need a few extra days here or there. The pay is decent and if you're willing to work you can make a lot of money. 

The work itself is not overly rewarding, its physically demanding     (good if you would rather be on the move than sit around all day) and can sometimes be a tad boring. Since this is the case the bosses really focus on hiring good guys who fit into the group. So likely if you get hired you will get a long with everyone. I enjoyed working with my group and had very few issues with anyone, it made the day go by a little faster.

Worked in Edmonton for Green Oasis Services / Blueweed Vegetation. 
Lots of hours, good pay and made lots in OT.
Training was good and they take great care of their equipment and everything is always in working order. If something breaks, they fix right away.
Safe work environment and we always had regular safety meetings and followup training. They pay for the courses if you need them unlike other companies I worked for.
Long hours in the peak times, but if you are interested in making money for the summer, then that's great. Needed a few days off for a wedding and it was not a problem to prebook.
They have a commercial side and an industrial side of the business which allows some flexibility in which type of work you like.

I had a wonderful two years at Green Oasis where I met lots of honest and hardworking people. The hardest part about this job are the longs hours that you have to work, but getting used to it took no time. You feel like you're being productive and not wasting your time away during the summer. The most enjoyable part were the different places in Alberta that I got to travel to during days that were spent in smaller towns. A typical day starts at 5:45AM and ends around 4:00PM on average. As the season goes on, the days become shorter which means you'll get to enjoy the last bits of summer. Management is the best amongst any company I have ever worked for. They are understanding and will treat you with respect for your hard work.

Great place to work with lots of hours available and safety always at the forefront. From the owner down, management is invested in the success of its employees and any mistakes or incidents on the job are treated as opportunities to learn and grow, not blame and shame. The work culture is very inclusive and easy going as well as time off requests being a non-issue if given proper time. As long as you're motivated, they will teach you everything you need to know.

Working for the company was excellent for a few reasons: early day job, as many hours as you want to work, decent management, and good pay for work. 

If you fall in line and don't question anything then you will be fine. Core management are effective, however, they employ other ineffective management that are conflict averse, and unwilling to step in when dealing with conflicts. 

With that said, they do take the time to train you, but if you do anything wrong you become a target.

They hire great people, train them thoroughly and follow up with one on one reviews. They coach you all season long and support is always available. Hours are just what they say, 55-60 per week, May through August and some part time hours in September if you can fit it into your schedule. Made tuition and then some. I am going back and bringing a buddy.

- Trained on blending fertilizer and pesticides.
- Usually working in a specific area of the city each day.
- Great seasonal job for students.
- Wash and clean equipment daily.
- PPE provided.
- Bonus program.

this is a great place to work. They compensate their employees fairly and you won't find management that is easier to deal with. there are lots of working hours with this job which some see as a negative thing but if you're looking to get paid this is the place for you.
