Green Shield is a forward thinking company that puts great focus and effort into developing and nurturing their employees growth. They believe their employees are their greatest asset and it made working for Green Shield a joy. I was able to take courses outside of work hours to personally develop skills that were not necessarily needed for my job (ie. Language courses). Green Shield always provided a good structure for learning and mentors were always nearby if I needed a resource to learn. Eventually as I became more experienced I became that resource for other employees. If I did not have to relocate I would still be happily employed with Green Shield Canada.

Good professional work environment, comparatively small but helpful staff.Good team effort and stimuating work place. Eased in quickly to group insurance underwriting after fairly lengthy absence with very supportive co-workers and manager. Excited to be given chance to contribute, despite job only lasting for as long as full-time permanent employee was on matenity leave. Uncoverd potential for administrative and techical refinements. Enjoyed assisting Group Account Reps in acquiring new accounts and successful renewal and retention of in-force Groups, especially interesting statistical underwriting details. Close knit team group including 2 sisters.

The job initially was great. I got a lot of support when I initially started working there. Eventually, I didn't get the support anymore and management was not proactive in resolving the issue. 

Work became very fast-paced and really without notice. work was assigned and the expectations are really high. Management does not give you enough support to be well informed before assigning work because they also don't know. We all just did what we thought was right and hoped for the best.


Horribly understaffed department for the last few years, long working hours. Management  lost touch with the amount of work that needs to be done. Last Director and now VP has no underwriting experience, yet he was promoted, just making everyone's life difficult. Tools and enhancements won't replace bodies/underwriters, just making life easier. Head office in Windsor is first on promoting friends and family versus qualified individuals.

Horrible place to work. Management is horrendous and will backstabbing you and throw you under the bus for their false and mistakes. All the Management has been there since the start of the company and all.are bad ppl who do not want to train or help.you learn at all. Pay is also well below other jobs in the same field. 

This place is a revolving door for everyone except Management bc all other employees are replaceable to them.

Do.yourself a favor and skip applying here, will save you a ton of stress and anxiety.

The team is rotten from the top that relies on the staff on the bottom to succeed in spite of bad management and leadership. This is a company that cares more about making the leaders look shiny while the workers drown. The Senior management team literally does nothing except blame everyone except themselves for their failures. This company lacks ethics and integrity and only cares about sales numbers and will tolerate fraud and safety to accomplish it

Almost everyday is the same. There are a few days you may have to leave the office to assist doctors on site. You have to be prepared to do fecal test a few times a week, and send a report to the physician after. You’ll also have to call patients and remind them to send those fecal kits back and book their blood work. In the lower half of the day, you have to go inside the hood and reconstitute Botox, which overtime you get used to and build the speed.

Busy, often no time for lunch or breaks

To be fully truthful, this was probably just because of my position. They hired me to replace someone who was going to retire, but then laid me off because that person decided not to retire. It was a good severance package, but felt like a slap in the face as I left a great job to go to Green Shield. Only because of this I would think twice before working there again.

good place , good people , stingy management. will take advantage of you in the promise of keeping you permanently then let u go to save some dollars.

i was let go after 7 weeks then they called me one month later to offer me another job , which i declined as there is no job security over there. you will be kicked out without notice to save some money
