Joined over the busy Christmas period. The pub overhired so from January until I left in March we all got dropped from full-time to 2/3 days per week. Pay is okay at £8.20 But I recently found out another pub in the area pays 30p more. 

Area manager is awful, kept demanding the wage budget be cut further and further with no thought about the employees. Refused to let us get fixed air con/heating so we were freezing over winter.

My management was amazing, so supportive and receptive. But they kept giving us awful shift patterns 8-12 hr shifts, closing then opening the mext day etc.

The most enjoyable part of the job is the people you work with and the regulars. 
Team leaders can expect to work more than management, as you are paid hourly, and they are paid salary. 6–16-hour shifts, can be there until 1/2am at night. management have no care for safeguarding (physical or mental). Sometimes bar staff get 0 hours or 30/40hrs and punished if call in sick or unable to work due to personal or educational circumstances. unpaid breaks that's if you even get a break "normal" to work 10hr shifts with no breaks. 

Long hours with VERY short breaks. Very unpleasant people to work with, to the point where I couldn't go a shift without breaking down or wanting to quit. I got a lot of hate for quitting to finish my studies and I am too afraid to go back to that place even for a meal with family.
Greene King as a company were absolutely brilliant, the Field Head Hotel (Old English Inn) on the other hand...

The managers were amazing, but nothing was done to handle staff drama and this in turn ruined my experience working there.

I have been GK for over 4 years now and I have developed a career I am truly proud off, I have been give the tools to complete my work on and off the job but I have developed my career within the different brands, there is so much more to then just being a manager and the opportunities you are given if you want then are available

A typical day at work would be always make,sure follow instructions given and I loved making sure everyone had the best time everything was clean tidy and made sure tables were set and cleaned always helped others if needed,anything needed doing I would do it make serve pudding to customers

Although with the unsociable hours we have a great team, who work well together but also as individuals. I have been lucky to have learnt how to complete beer orders, stock counts and deal with back office reuqests.

Overworked and under appreciated. Only good if you plan on never using your 33% off discount because managers change their mind so much on whether it’s a dry house or not. 
And don’t think about trying to “climb the ladder” it just won’t happen. 

Shift patterns can be unpredictable and unreliable, making it hard to make a good, consistent amount of money. Management has been a bit chaotic.
Staff discounts are decent, especially if using while on shift.

No two days are the same, something always to get your teeth stuck into.
