Greenhorizons Sod Farms

I worked for Greenhorizons for 2 years. I was new to the truck driving career and did not have much experience with operating a transport. I applied to Greenhorizons and was contacted within a week for an interview, a week later i was asked to come in to begin my training. The trainers were very knowledgeable, patient and the content was very applicable to the job. The training was mostly hands on. When it came time to start deliveries i was delivering mostly dirt bags. The hours were long and sometimes it was frustrating dealing with traffic and tight residential situations, however if i was ever in a spot my supervisor would always guide me through and get me to my next stop. The pay was a little low for a base rate in comparison to some companies however with the bag bonus i was almost making double my base pay!!! As I gained experienced I was becoming more and more efficient with my deliveries resulting in a substantial increase again in my extra bag bonus $$. Overall i really enjoyed working for Greenhorizons, the experience was very  valuable, the pay was great and you always felt like you had support from your supervisors. The work was sometimes laborious and the hours were long however i always looked forward to coming to work. i have recommended this job to many of my friends and family.

I have never worked at a place that feels like a second home. I never dread coming to work and I am always looking forward to the day ahead of me. This job has allowed me to move up and learn many new things that I not only can apply to the job, but can also apply to life. 

A typical day for myself includes interacting with customers, entering orders, working in the yard, loading and unloading vehicles, trailers, and transports, organizing trucks for the following day, and much more. I will also periodically work in the fields and help with planting. 

Everybody I work with is a second family. We all work closely together and keep a happy and encouraging work environment. 

Good place to start out if you are a new person starting driving , trucks are older but well maintained  all equipment serviced and in great shape , pay and hours are by farm rate no OT but a odd bonus system . Supervisor is fair when it comes to DRs and home life , Most staff are fun to work with  You are expected to work long and hard  if you are in the yard   It is seasonal work and 6 days a week 

This place is the epitome of great management. I’ve worked in a lot of places and this one is by far the least amount of drama possible. Everyone is friendly and very relaxed. It’s a very nice change to the typical gossipy retail jobs. It’s very hands on and you get the opportunity to learn many things. However if you don’t like getting hands on and dirty then I don’t suggest this as it can be hard work. That being said, the team environment makes the hard work worth it.

I was a farm labourer/ yard worker. Great company to work for. Do your job and be on time are the two most important things. You successfully do those things and you will love it here. Always lots of work, can show your dedication by staying late during the busy season. Long hours but they take care of you. Water always there. Vending machines on the ready. A cooled lunch room. Good management. Overall a great place to work.

Greenhorizons is a wonderful place to work, especially if you’re a student! It’s a very laid back environment & the work is hard but the people make it worthwhile. It feels like the company actually cares about their employees! 

I would definitely recommend if you’re the type of person who doesn’t mind working long shifts! 

Management is awesome. Can be a challenging job to those not used to a lot of city driving but easy to learn. Very patient managers who never rush anything safety is a top priority. Pay is weak for those with experience however you can always have more hours.

days work is 10hrs plus monday to saturday. I learned how to operate forklifts and also a loader. Management is good. The hardest part of this is job and lifting all day. 50lbs plus. For my position, I help out costumers load what they buy such as sod and 40 liters of soil and mulch, and fertilizer bag.

Long hours, discounts, perks being a full refrigerator with nourishment nice staff and a slow to fast customer ratio along with off site opportunities (watering fresh sod at parks, public centers  and more.

the hours depends on clients need despite the allegation of 60 - 70 hours per week, pay is 21 per hour with no benefits, tractors and trailers not in very good shape. office ladies and farm crew are good people
