I worked here for over a year and unless you're super confident and strong minded, it's a very toxic workplace to work. Management are very hypocritical, gets angry if you call in sick once in a blue moon, call you in for cover but everyone else can call in sick especially them with no repercussions. They do no treat mental health as a serious thing, instead they just pass it off and push you until you can't do it no more. Sometimes you go to other shops to cover and although you get travel time and paid for travel, they're all the same, leave certain team members out front to do everything and deal with customers while they stay in the back doing the 'sandwiches' basically chatting, going out for cigarettes for 20 minutes every time, this is one of the hardest parts of the job, struggling on your own.
The early shifts are draining, in our shop we started at 5:30 and most people who started at that time wouldn't leave till 2-3 pm, because the hours weren't really handled correctly according to the team members.

I learned only to stop being depressed to turn up to work and instead faked it until I made it through every shift which made me leave because there was too much pressure and again management just don't care. 

There really wasn't any enjoyable parts of the job apart from getting paid and even that pay didn't stop me from leaving. Everyone was just very gossipy/nasty about each other and you would wonder what they would say about you when you weren't around.

Just do not work here unless you know that your local shop is good and there are nice people willing to do teamwork.

I worked as a Team member. A typical day at work was about working at a fast pace environment. Cash handling, Attending and selling products to customers and cleaning premises at the end of the day.

What I learned about being a team member was communicating with  customers and making sales as each day passed by and communicating with my fellow team members as well.

My time management and organizational skills came very handy because I was able to accomplish my goals by making 10-50 products sales in a day.

My co-workers were very friendly, fun and helpful. I was able to talk to them or ask for their assistance whenever I needed their help.

The hardest part of the job was communicating and persuading people that I hadn't met or seen before to buy the company's products. The first week of the job was very challenging but as days passed by, I got used to selling products to customers.

The most enjoyable part of the job was interacting, attending and communicating with customers that came to buy the products and getting on well with my fellow colleagues.

I worked in the new Cross one in Hamilton. I absolutely loved working there. I worked there for over four years. My manager was good to work with and under manager was good also but my team mates I worked with were absolutely amazing girls and the wee Saturdays boys and girls were also good working with them. I had to give up my job as I had five kidney stones and it was killing me standing all those hours on my feet. I have only one kidney stone now and not as painful as it use to be and wanting to get back into greggs again.


If you like fast paced environments then it's good. It depends on the team you have behind you. It is obviously customer facing and you have to be a people person. There is space to progress into management. Depending on the management team you have it can be a great supportive place to work. There are times where you can be understaffed due to having to help other shops in the area

i would not work for greggs if you have a family or if you wish to advance in your role within the company you are made to feel like you dont count and if you dont get on with your manager you are pushed out of you job

Greggs is very similar to another fast food company I worked for it can be fun and it can be stressful but all in all it's really a case of work hard play hard so hopefully you don't get to stressed out. Would recommend :)

I did not enjoy working here as the staff were rude and the customers were obnoxious, I was constantly being giving the wrong hours to come in and felt as though I was being slightly bullied

Working in the store can sometimes be fun.. but the other week I got refused sick pay as my doctors note didn't have a reason on it.. and all I got was a load of excuses from head office

best part is the discount by far team is great management sucks

everything nah it sucks major !
