Overall, I do not recommend this employer.

Pros. 
The job provided me with practical, hands-on experience that was useful for my career development.

Cons,
Uncompetitive Pay: In my experience, the pay rate was notably lower than the market average for similar roles in the area.

 · Unrelenting Workload: The daily workload was excessively heavy. During my tenure, we did not have scheduled paid time off during the workday, which led to significant fatigue and stress.

 · Toxic and Cliquish Culture: I experienced and witnessed a workplace where established groups frequently bullied new hires and colleagues from different backgrounds. When I reported these issues, I felt that HR and senior management were unresponsive and did not provide support or resolution, which created a hostile and unsupported environment. 
 
Poor Safety Standards: There was a consistent lack of adherence to proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) protocols on site. When I wore the required safety gear, I stood out, as enforcement was clearly not a priority, making me concerned for overall workplace safety.  

Advice to Management: To stop being seen as just a "paid training center," you must urgently address compensation, enforce respectful workplace policies without bias, and prioritize safety. Good employees leave quickly because the culture is broken. Conduct an anonymous climate survey and act on its findings to create a professional and equitable environment worthy of retaining talent.  

What is the best part of working at the company?
Not alot actually. I had to make do alot. The staff is kind for the most part. They buy pizza every once in a while. Decent job but could use some improvements on employee perks and pay.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Knowing that the kind approach was still an approach. Still a corporate multinational.  They look at the bottom line all the time. Don't get thrown under the bus.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Could use improvements. The company wants to promote woke ideas but I'd say they fall short of those goals. The people you work with are what makes it enjoyable, until it isn't. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Pretty normal. Show up. Grab a coffee. Start working. I don't really know how it was for other people at the company, but I didn't feel included.

Working at Donation hall has been both a  chellenging and rewarding experience. While the nature of the job often comes with a demanding schedule and, at times difficult donors, the strong support system within our team makes a huge difference.

Our senior coworkers are especially commendable- they are not only knowledgeable and helpful but also incredibly supportive and approachable. Their good sense of humor  and positive attitude bring a lightness to the workplace that help us get through  even the most high-pressure days. 

Even when things get overwhelming, having such  a dependable  and fun team to work with makes  the job much more enjoyable. Their leadership and camaraderie  are a big part of what makes  donation hall not "perfect" but a great place to work.

This is a business and there are many departments working together to have hundreds of donors make donations up to 2x a week. You are an integral part of a team. Compared to a hospital or shift work, this place is a dream! 8 hr days and good work life balance. Yes, you make more in a hospital, but if you are tired of that environment, there is a place for nurses here. Less stress, free parking and amazing coworkers. Opportunities for cross-training, travel and advancement. Grifols has centers across Canada, so if you are looking to move across Canada, you might find a place with Grifols there. Plasma donations help thousands of people to live longer, healthier lives. It feels good to be a part of this.

My time at Grifols was marked by a cliquey work environment where some employees gave off “mean girl” vibes, making it easy to feel excluded and uncomfortable. 

Training was seriously lacking. Despite being there for a short period, I never received full training, and tasks like sampling were delayed for over a month due to coworkers avoiding responsibility. During training I received a verbal reprimand for a contaminated sample that was intended solely for practice and not used to monitor the actual system.

While my manager was understanding with personal time off, I’ve heard from peers in other departments that this wasn’t always the case.

Despite the dedication of many long-term employees, the company culture does not reflect appreciation or respect for their contributions. Employees are often treated as just a number, with little acknowledgment for their years of service. Management frequently avoids addressing concerns or offering support when it’s needed most. Unfortunately, this created a discouraging work environment. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this as a positive or supportive place to work.

Working at Grifols Fredericton has been a wonderful experience. The staff are all incredibly friendly and it is a fantastic learning environment. The hours are set so you you know what time you will be going home each day which is a plus. It is unfortunate that some of the days Grifols is open 11:30am-8pm which is not great for work/life balance but it is for the convenience of the donors which is understandable. Also, unfortunately the pay and compensation is typically lower than similar roles in the area. Despite this, we find ways to celebrate wins and make every day a fulfilling day!

It is the people, the process, and the purpose. 
A team of deeply committed and passionate people (donors & staff). The process is highly regulated and controlled, producing a top-quality product. Being part of the global vision of enhancing the quality of health and life of individuals.

The frequency of updates and new iterations puts constant pressure.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
A professional and warm workplace.

Good place to gain valuable experience and develop skills, especially for those starting out in the field. The team environment is supportive, and there are opportunities to learn different tasks and responsibilities. However, new tasks are frequently added without corresponding compensation, documentation standards are extremely strict, and there appears to be limited diversity among workers being hired. Overall, a decent workplace for experience, but salary and benefits could be improved.

The people are amazing to work with. I was able to contribute in a meaningful and impactful way and felt acknowledged.

Presenting confidently to staff and senior leadership in a way that is educational and enthusiastic.
