Group 4 Security

I am currently a guard an hospital guard. A typical day for me is to patrol the hospital, unlock doors, escort mental health patients from the ER to the mental health floor, ensure that there is a constant watch guard on each form 1 patient in the hospital that is not on the mental health floor, and that they are watching their patient and doing their job.  
Each day is a new experience and learning to handle violent patients and not taking it personal, knowing that each person that comes in no matter how voilent needs the same amount of respect and care.
Being careful to not get hurt yourself and protecting yourself from the people you're trying to care for.  Knowing you can make a difference in how someone else is day goes is very fulfilling in knowing that you can change the direction they are heading.

We are a team that watch each others back on a daily basis, each Hospital guard that is on each shift understands the danger and the required skills to get through each shift without any injuries to ones self or the patient.

A typical day at the site I work at would start from unlocking the rooms, giving breaks to other guards, picking up papers, dealing with contractors, putting the elevator on service, monitoring the CCTV cameras, Valet parking, dealing with burglary alarms and grocery delivery. I learned many things in the past couple of years that I have worked, one of the things that I learned was team work. I learned that by working in a team made everything efficient and effortless. My co-workers are smart and educated. One of my co-worker has his master in chemical engineering (country of origin) and the other one was aircraft mechanic (Canada). I have learned a lot from them in the years that I worked with them. The hardest part of the job was balancing school studies while working. The most enjoyable part of my job is the team I work with.

A typical day involves a lot a walking, and various weather conditions. You quickly learn how to communicate and work with people from all walks of life, as there is a lot of exposure to the public. The management are pretty good, but some sites have better management then other. The coworkers are usually pleasant, easy going people that help make the job easier. The hardest part of a typical day is dealing with sore feet. The most enjoyable part of a typical day is working with a team of people to meet client expectations.

the work for the company is easy however the company itself is very poorly run the people in charge of you seclude could change and you wont find out until you call in and ask why you did not get a response to the holiday request you emailed in and most site supervisors know nothing about the job and dont care to learn it so long as they get payed you could die for all they care

Can't make a living wage. Management is incompetent and doesn't care. Lots of different sites that all pay minimum wage. If u do a good job and try to get moved to a better site they won't move u. U have to literally get kicked off a site for a chance at a better one. Dead-end job. Some good employees but nobody stays. Alot of incompetent guards that couldn't get a job anywhere else or are power tripping psychos. 

1,000,000 ft.² to cover walking stairs BOW towers. One of the biggest buildings in Calgary 4 towers in total. Good friendly coworkers. Some I still talk to today.

They are an okay company, not that hard to get in, and they are some what organized.

They do have a filtration system in place to try and block guards that are not fit for security

The G4S office in Windsor is a joke. They dont care about their employees and the pay is garbage and the union is a joke and I mean huge joke. Would love to see them closed. The schedule manager in that office deserves to be fired

Havent worked for the company in so long. I cant necessarily make an accurate statement as to the company now, but when I was there I enjoyed the hours and locations i worked

A typical day at work can be stressful, but that can be with most jobs, but there has been no room for advancement for me. It is a great environment with great people, and i have earned a lot of skills thanks to this company.
