- On phones for entire shift, less 30 min research time, 30 min lunch and 2 x 15 min breaks
- Research and resolve high volumes of inbound telephone and internet inquiries to effectively meet the diverse needs of callers, within established productivity goals & turnaround times

- Learned additional customer service and problem solving skills along with several types of computer programs including navigating DOS systems
- Also learned and became very familiar with health and dental terminology as well as life and disability policies.

- Difficult to research, problem solve, contact necessary departments on outstanding callbacks within allotted time in shift, resulting in several hours of overtime each week

- Helping a customer become very satisfied and happy was very rewarding

The main focus of the job is turn around time, which needs to be kept at an industry best of 24 hours or less. Therefore the hardest part of the job is to keep the volumes in check. The management is very equitable and share of work load is fairly distributed. I have learnt that team work if used effectively can result in far better results than individual work. Working for Group Benefits has taught me that an open and friendly relationship between co-workers and management is key to departmental success that trickles down to all other departments as well.

Working in this company provided a fantastic opportunity to gain Canadian work experience. 

The customer service role is often the first point of contact with the company. As a customer representative it is imperative to assume a positive and polite attitude always, regardless of the situation. This was particularly interesting at the beginning as it was a new personal challenge.

In time, the best part of the job was the amount of information I learned about the Insurance sector, in particular the benefits, claims procedures and underwriting.

I am able to work with great people who has a problem-solving skills. 
My last job was an excellent learning opportunity and I developed my skills and experience in numerous different ways. 
The most enjoyable part of the job was helping to assist to bring the best service possible.
There's a lot of opportunitues to mingle with peers in parties in great restaurants.

You are treated to a 6 week training course then they put you on the floor to answer incoming calls regarding coverage for group benefits. They monitor every phone call and expect the call to not last longer than 3 minutes. Good Luck. You are treated like a number and you won't last long. Be prepared.

Fast paced environment. Management is generally supportive and fair as long as you do your job and take responsibility for your decisions. Great place to network with people in the insurance industry such as brokers, advisers and intermediaries.

Ownership has external pressure, some self-induced and others not, impacting on ability to focus on the business.


A reduced business focus results in either less attention than necessary or scrambling to deliver at the 11th hour.

Worked with two separate departments within one office. Was given lots of opportunities for new work within office. One department had younger employees and they were very fun to work with. However that department was moved to head-office.

Very flexible, able to work from home . Managed a team across Canada, used skype to communicate with people and staff not physical in office.  Was in charge of Quotes from Quebec, Eastern Canada ( Maritimes) and Western Canada.

nice place to work overall. leadership has extreme expense focus, to a point they may not promote great staff. good work and life balance. a bit slow culture when it comes to adapting to change
