Everyday is usually different because the children don't always behave the way we would want them too. Working at Growing Tykes Learning Centre has taught me a lot, such as; managing my time efficiently (coming in 15 minutes before my shift), being able to stand for long periods of time, always having a positive/energetic mood, to improvise when needed, to remain calm/patient and also working under pressure. The hardest part of the job is that my attention should be everywhere at all times, ex: scanning the room, making sure everything is in place and that the kids are safe. The staff members were very supportive and taught me how to do this correctly. Being able to make others happy was the most enjoyable part of the job! I am very glad that I was able to have this opportunity and to take what I have learned and apply it to Cineplex.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Everything like that company so comfortable

Great co-workers but management is terrible. Funds are too low for quality programming or growth.  Children don't learn anything. Pay is not great, and management carefully selects who gets raises. Standard legislation and policies are not followed. Staff are not encouraged to grow and thus no professional development opportunities.

Very bad management they don’t care about the staff. Only ECE receive benefits even if you’re a senior staff that’s been working here for years as an ECA you received nothing .Some staff are rough on the children. The menu may look appealing, but in fact it’s not. This Centre has some favouritism when it comes to staff

Working at the Growing Tykes Learning Centre was challenging, other RECE seems not professional, i felt pressed by colleague for personal reasons but it should not be exist in professional field. Main mission for me  was to give the best for the children but it wasn't the same for others.

I had my student placement here when I was studying ECE. Loved my mentor as well as other educators that were working with me in the classroom. My mentor was super supportive and treated me like someone she’s known before. I definitely learned a lot from being in their center

Working here as an RECE has been a wonderful experience. The staff are kind and helpful and of course the children are the best part of every shift. The playground is nice and we get lots of fresh air with the kids. RECE’s get benefits after 6 months. I am very happy here. 

Overall, it was a great learning experience. I would not return to work there and i did not necessarily enjoy my time there, however it was a great stepping stone into the field.

Friendly bunch of people working there and everyday chore wasn't too bad, nothing too extreme.  Supervisors are on top of their job and know what is going on, and usually you just have to cooperate with them.

My mentors were good. They taught me a lot of things to become a good ECE. I really appreciated of their supports. It was my last field placement and there were challenges and times where the experience is enhancing my self-reflections.
