A typical day involved opening the store, organizing displays, engaging with customers to encourage product trials, driving sales through add-ons, and maintaining a clean, inviting environment.

One of the key insights I gained was how challenging workplace culture can impact employee retention, even in a company with strong values. While loyalty was encouraged, the lack of robust incentive programs made it difficult for the organization to sustain long-term commitment. This environment particularly retained those comfortable with lower-wage roles and those not looking to grow in their careers.

Maintaining motivation was a challenge given the limited growth opportunities, but the most fulfilling aspect of the job was the direct interaction with customers and the opportunity to make a positive impact on their experience.

I met great people, on the sales level at least that I will cherish forever! 

The company prospers on exploiting young gullible people. They'll fool you with games, etc., instead of actually paying or compensating you for the 3 different jobs you have to do. Basically, they're training program like most is a way to get you to do management work (constantly) for min wage. 
Theres no real staff apperication, just cute words on cards. Ofcourse they're manager perks (I should know) which are used as incentives to make subordinates work harder to reach sometimes unrealistic targets and find ways to cut cost for the store, basically the more the store saves the managers make. 

I guess its a good place to work while you look for another job 

I worked in a leadership role within the store and gained valuable experience in sales, coaching, and operations. The environment is fast-paced and performance-driven, with a strong emphasis on driving results, KPIs, and loss prevention. I had the opportunity to mentor associates, lead shifts, and develop my skills in team management and problem-solving.

That said, communication from upper management could be inconsistent at times, and expectations weren’t always clearly outlined before accountability conversations took place. Work-life balance can also be challenging depending on scheduling and store demands. Overall, it’s a place where you can grow quickly if you’re adaptable, resilient, and comfortable in a high-pressure retail setting.

Had a lot of fun at this job. Head management wasn’t bad at all, very in touch with the staff. Good balance of fun work culture and responsibility. Customers were always interesting and building those relationships was a blast.

Sales goals were stupidly high, not much scheduling flexibility. They want people t9 be pushy to sell. The hours drag like molasses, I still remember needing to finger space and tuck tags into every hanging garment. Boring

It was a great company overall working at Guess. It has a strong culture almost feels like a family. Most importantly, the people you work with made it worth it. However, the pay was not the greatest. 

Not my favourite environment. The team was overall fun. A lot of promises when you start, not so much when you’re actually working. A lot of inside drama with upper management.

Retail job was manageable, strange occurrences at times involving customers. Co-workers were great and worked as a team. Hours were flexible for a student.

It was a really fun place to work. Was fast paced and easy, everyone was nice. One manager did try to train us to racial profile which made me uncomfortable. 

Decent pay and good staff and team to work with. The management are always willing to help and overalll a good work environment.
Pay isn’t as good as hoped
