Training was short and sweet, work is very physical.  LSL and LVL beams are stored outside and brought in by equipment that barely works so often have to move 60 foot lengths of wood beams in by hand.  Forced to use floor joists and LSL beams that were mouldy from outdoor storage and often soaked in water and swelled up from improper tarping.  Management often wants you to hit unattainable targets for production despite engineers providing plans that often have to undergo several rounds of major changes to be somewhat safe and code-compliant in real time involving near-constant changes to existing floor frames before they can be installed on the production line.  Oh, and on employee appreciation day they laid off 8 people there after the company had a pizza lunch for all the employees featuring photo ops and everything, was almost surreal watching it happen. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
They took the time to teach you when I told them I didn't have the experience for the task. I had compliments when I did Good work, which aren't always received by employees. Aim to be proud of you work and company.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
You sometimes had to organize your task around damaged material.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Better than most employers. Just because Im being asked to put more characters they also suggested coffee at the end of the day.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Consistently doing good work.

I was hired as a  construction cleaner but ended up during covid as cleaning caf and bathrooms. 
Also worked as simple construction techniques such as mudding, sanding, nail hamering, sawing, deliver items needed to units being built, part of the carpenters union in three months .
Company encentif company pizza parties when quotas are met .
Units marked that are or should be completed in the 7am to 4:40pm shift.
20 foot ladder climb to finish and clean units.

What is the best part of working at the company?
It’s indoors and you get 40 hours 4 days a week if they have work

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
They don’t tell you if they have more contracts or not so it’s a guessing game if you have work half the time and how long you’ll be on EI 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Coworkers are mostly fine but everyone’s a mostly negative and there’s favourites 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Fast pace and decent amount of problem solving

I worked at  Guildcrest homes as a drafts-person. The pay does not match the education level needed to be employed as a draft-person at Guildcrest Homes. Managers at Guildcrest Homes do not have any formal training in management or business, this is why work distribution is none existent.  This job is advertised as salaried but if you miss a day they will remove the hours from your pay and you will be forced to sign a non payment form for all holidays.  

Great shifts
Fantastic employees that are kind, supportive and knowledgeable. 
They taught me how to read blueprints so I could do the layouts for the walls I build. 
I love my position doing the framework for the interior walls. It’s very rewarding to know that the family that owns the home will love not only my work, but the every employee in the factory to the head office as well contributes to the build.

 

It doesn’t matter how hard you work for them they will fire you shortly before your probation is up I was told they like to do that before starting there but figured I’d take my chances was forced to work alone lifting 100 pound sheets of drywall while my lead hand stood and watched materials were often moldy and damp but were forced to build with them anyways

Guildcrest Homes has been around for many years, they are a leader in Prefab homes.  The whole building process is all done in doors starting from the floor then the inside walls out to the outside walls followed by the roof.  When one works here you learn many aspects of carpentry work...

That place is only good for a pay check until you find a job with a future. Everyone there is miserable and the company does not really care about their employees safety or future.
