I worked for the company for 1 year and 4 month. I am grateful for my experience, which taught me that ignorance is valued more than critical thinking and the desire along with action to bring business. Extra hectic since I started working from the branch, which they call adaptability and learning experience. Mergers brought updated procedures without sufficient guidelines available, along with 5 employees leaving the organization within 3 months out of 6 employees in the branch. Getting to know all the processes was a puzzle as "simple" question can jiggle in between the entire organization and get back to you as if the question was never in place. New management has no hard skills, and I find that management is passive-aggressive, requiring the urgent acquisition of emotional intelligence. The manager was trying to justify planning of the 2023 at the end of Q1, March is the logical time. Call centre employees are not entering logs in CRM, making it tougher to maintain the relationship with the member, especially if it is high net worth. If you like sitting in front of the computer all day quietly, this place is for you. There are growth opportunities, and you would need to spend 2-5 years to get 10k raise which is disproportionate to additional responsibilities. The starting salary is miserable compared to the amount of work expected and the sales aspects of the job, which pushes it from being entry-level position the company claims it is. Moreover, the compensation plan is limited twice and tied to team results, making it hard to achieve or find the motivation to try. Among targets, half are unattainable due to poor training and the organization’s products offered in the market conditions. The bonus on bringing business is insignificant which is offensive, considering the frequency of hope given from management and times being brought up during branch activities and meetings. How to make sure everyone is working towards the branch's success if two managers cumulatively entered a few calls/emails in a month in the system? I highly advise driven people to stir clear of Gulf & Fraser as it will try to question the good in you.

I worked very hard to break into finance and I was thrilled when I finally made it. The learning curve is massive between all the product knowledge and learning the software to process transactions, etc. but my co-workers were generally helpful and kind and I felt like I eventually fit right in. However, drama and gossip filled the air often and I was not interested in engaging in toxic behaviours. My only saving grace was a great assistant manager who supported me through training the whole time I was there - but he was the only one who took that time. My actual manager provided very little training and even less often was out on the floor with us. I was very vocal about moving into other positions and learning other things that I think I could have provided more of my experience to, but it seemed I would be stuck where I was for a very long time with very little training support, and staffing issues and shortages being a normal thing. The actual pace and expectations of the position I worked were also very impractical; it seemed we always had more work than time, which offered another place to grow as the company overall did not feel progressive to me at all. Ultimately if the company does not want to listen to new ideas and accommodate and empower their employee's strengths, they will lose a lot of talented people.

After working for this company for about 6 months, I can say this has by far been the most thankless and stressful job I have had. My coworkers were nice but the management at my branch was absolutely toxic. No accountability by the managers. They blame you for the mistakes of others and expect you to attend events outside of work hours for no pay and if you have other responsibilities that prevent you from attending they will first attempt to guilt trip you and if that does not work they will find a reason to let you go. The managers act friendly initially but will not coach you properly and then become vicious when you are unable to perform at the level they expect. The benefits are good but not worth the emotional drain that you will experience after working for even a few months.

I have been in the finance field for over 10 years and this company was the most stressful enviornment I have ever worked at. They demand a lot with no support. They expect you to know everything when no proper training was provided. ABM and BM are absolutly no help, they have too much on there plate to help staff, especially new staff. I do not recommend working here. I felt like I was set up for failure and not to suceed. I have never seen all my co worker so stressed and mentally exhausted in my life. There is a reason why they have lots of positions available and quick turn around of employees. 

The hardest part of the job is that as a Money Advisor with G&F, we do ALL banking needs and appointments. Not getting paid as we could be getting pay in some other bigger banks. Is enjoyable that G&F do a lot of business development allowing the staff to work from home sometimes or be part of a very nice event.

This is a fast paced company where you’ll find the work load high but you’ll make great friendships with people in your branch and also at the office. People support each other and really care. I have enjoyed my time here so far, it really is the people you work beside each day that make this company great.

depends on the positions, quite a lot to learn but poor strategy of training employee but very friendly environment. In terms of personal development, the positions and tools provided are very limited.

its a great company, work load is good not stressful.
great management truly care about employees. great employees like family. it never felt like I had to drag myself out of bed to go to work.
