You must work 12 hours shift that alternates day\night( you get paid 12 hours because you cant leave the premises) in the same week, so your sleep pattern quickly get ruined, They cant get qualified personnel therefore taking time off must be scheduled long time before, you have sick days but they would prefer that you called a week before.
This is a union workplace, during the week but after 3:30 you are alone and must do the work of the plumber, electrician, carpenter , fixe beds, wheelchairs and other equipements plus do your work at the heating plant.
 Now for pay, they have every trick in the book to justify not paying what the union convention stipulates:  if you take time off you get paid only 11.5 hours and the same time get nicked half an hour of your overtime. That day cost you 1.25 h!  When you work a stat holiday you get time and half plus the convention tell that you are entitled a day off adjacent to the next rest period ! This is great but in reality you get  7.5 hours instead of 12 hours. You will be missing 4,5 h. Expect to get mad and frustrated. This is a place to get experience not a lifetime job.

I was volunteering for two weeks and I had the chance to help patients and interact with them. I also helped the nurses and doctors. Everyone one of the staff was very nice and welcoming. The hospital stays true to their words, everyone either spoke English or french with I really appreciated since the french language is slowly going away. I've learned to appreciate the work of the doctors and nurses because it surely takes a lot of patience to do their jobs correctly. The time I spent over there made me realize how much I'd like to work in a positive environment in the future.

What is the best part of working at the company?
No room for growth bound by union rules that protect procrastination and sub par employees. Do not report any issues they will not be dealt with no one is interested in being there. Surface niceties.

Lack of motivation lack of support lack of training lack of materials.

Surface niceties. Amalie and nod. Don’t rock the boat.

Do as your told follow protocol rinse and repeat

Great position if you are a nursing student. They offer you flexibility by letting you build your own schedule. The pay is great for the job. You get to give them your preferred units to work on and they do their best to accommodate that. Great position to gain confidence as a nursing student and observe the inner workings of nursing. Depending on the unit, you can do more basic care or more advanced. Good opportunity to observe or help out with certain techniques done by other nurses.

Workload is unmanageable, no support and high staff turnover rate/low retention rate, and you constantly feel like your nursing license is at stake.  Work here at your own risk...

You have to be cross trained in multiple positions and management expects you to be amazing at all of them. It doesn't matter if you have strengths or weaknesses in certain areas, they will not take that into consideration. Not enough time to do the tasks at hand, constantly rushing in a practice that should not be rushed.

Lack of professionalism very cliquey kind of like high school all over again. Great for students and for someone with a plan b. Not a forever environment to work in because it’s overly draining.

Usually friendly atmosphere considering the workplace. Considering the crisis that the healthcare is in, the management can't do miracles but it seems really different from a departement to another.

My experience at Montfort is very nice, nice environment no judgment, positive attitude, a good team, I only have a contract for 10 months but i wish I could work there for ever it pretty much good
