What is the best part of working at the company?
Co-workers are great. HR is absolutely horrible, which feeds into senior management. Stay away!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Human Resources constantly being investigated. The worst Hr department I've ever seen. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic and devious. HR management is a complete and total joke. Was there 15 years. Its never been worse.

Stressful but you adjust eventually to being treated like garbage

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Work 8 hours but there are other shifts available

I think the organization itself is amazing with equally amazing people. You will find some of the most dedicated officers and civilian workers there. For employees, it really depends on which department and who you're working under. Like any workplace, your supervisor can really make or break your experience.

During my time as a co-op student with the Hamilton Police Service I have grasped a firm understanding of various units and areas within the service such as use-of-force, mounted patrol unit and court services.  The Officers are very professional and it is a great experience for anyone with an interest in policing.

The culture is extremely toxic. You cannot trust anyone, and this is a job where you need that. The environment within the organization is uglier than anything you could deal with on the streets.

I have not worked for another service but after speaking to other officers from other services I can say that Hamilton is extremely overworked and understaffed.  As in many services the politics is a huge factor and people will step over you to get to where they want. Watch your back because nobody else will.

MGMT They are vindictive and don’t support there people 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It’s awful very low morale no support

Hopefully the management and leadership can perform a major turnaround over the next few years / work cycles .  That would go a long way into making this a more rewarding service to work for.

They need to recognize they are invested in their own employees just as much as their overall mission.

Challenging, interesting environment.  Over 30 years developed considerable leadership, management, teaching, planning and investigative skills.

I worked in a high stress environment with rotating shifts for many years. The pay and benefits were great but there were many coworkers who created a poisoned work environment which was not properly addressed by management.
