I cleaned the portable huts outside. I'd get to work at 4 because I would start at 4;30.Go into the office and talk to the head custodian about what my extra duties we're for the night after my primary work of cleaning the huts was done. I learned a lot about the different chemicals and products we're used to clean and the how to operated the different machines used to strip and wax and wash the floors. Management was always fair and helpful. Loved the co workers we all worked well together. The hardest part of the job was the snow, having to cart all my equipment. My cart and vacuum through the snow. most enjoyable part about going to work was knowing that the work I did was appreciate by the staff of teachers and the management.

Great place to start your career and get valuable experience..great people to work with but little too conservative and not up with the times. They expected a lot from me as a teacher for minimal salary. Management were great i enjoyed meeting them and working with them. The job was more stressful for me then i anticipated many special education students that made me feel exhausted after 5 years i had to leave as there was no room for advancement in my field as a PE teacher.

That's part of the good things is that there is virtually no stress

Working as a Custodian in any of the schools in the Hanover School division is back breaking and very physical labour.  Good people and management.  Wages are not at all in line with livable salary and definitely need to be addressed.  Straightforward tasks with some shift supervision.

Management always does more for people they know. Bonus if you attend same church. They don’t like disputes and sweep everything under the rug. If you need anybody to have your back don’t look for it there. 

The people that work in the maintenance are very friendly and the work is not very stressful. During hot days outdoor workers are allowed many breaks and the managers are very lenient with giving people time off.

I enjoy working in this environment dealing with parents, teachers, kids and being able to connect with the kids. Being the first person and the last person kids see in there day. Bringing them to and from school safely I take seriously and I have great pride in.

Board doesn't understand how low they pay employees. Their outlook on your job is "we can just find someone else" wrong attitude. Simply put it the board saw what employees do all day they would change their perspective on what to pay. 

Working in the schools was a great experience. But unfortunately, the division only cares about their own paychecks rather than the people on the front lines of child education.

ok pay but very limited to advance, management needs upgrading, outdated work ethics, travel time and extra hours not paid if working outside central location
