I joined Dr. HVAC with high expectations, but my experience ultimately fell short due to a lack of structure and support.
The onboarding process was minimal, particularly around sales and CRM software. Training on the systems used daily was very limited, and management did not appear confident or proficient in using the software themselves, which made it difficult to get meaningful guidance or troubleshooting support.
Management structure felt inconsistent. Managers frequently changed or were reassigned, making it hard to build continuity, receive coaching, or have a consistent point of contact.
Lead distribution was another challenge. There appeared to be an informal arrangement where one salesperson had priority access or control over incoming leads, including situations where leads were reassigned from others, which created an uncomfortable and unbalanced environment.
Finally, when business slowed, employment decisions were made quickly and with limited transparency. Terminations felt abrupt and were not clearly tied to performance metrics.
Dr. HVAC may be a fit for someone highly independent who does not require structured training or management support, but those looking for strong onboarding, clear processes, and consistent leadership may find it challenging.

A typical day at Dr HVAC and Plumbing is chaotic—unplanned schedules, unclear tasks, and constant last-minute changes. I learned basic HVAC troubleshooting but gained little professional growth due to poor guidance. Management, led by an overly controlling president, is disorganized, self-focused, and dismissive of employee input. The workplace culture is toxic, marked by low morale and high turnover, worsened by recent layoffs despite a "fast-growth" award. The hardest part is navigating the lack of structure and support. The most enjoyable part was helping clients directly, though rare due to mismanagement. Experienced workers, avoid this place—other GTA companies are better. Great for immigrants seeking PR, though.

I had a frustrating end to my time at Dr.HVAC. What I was sold on in my interview and what I got in the company was completely different. Wednesday meetings for training are just sales meetings to teach you how to sell better. They treat their existing customers horribly and are so desperate for new customers to sell to and rank customers for the potential to work a sale and are penalized as a if you cannot close a sale of new equipment. My dispatcher did not like my reluctance to sell and gave me horrible work and made me finish consistently over an hour from home and at times into 9 or 10 in the evening. Selling techs get treated like princes and I was told to consult with them as ways to sell to customers better. Customers trust techs to help them learn their equipment better and give them options they absolutely need. Lying about the state of their equipment pressuring them to buy stuff just isn’t the way to go. I do not recommend working at this company. 

As a technician we get plenty of opportunities to continue learning and advancing our knowledge. With the company growing there’s more room to keep growing and learning different types of HVAC systems. 
The company will trust you to perform your role and not micro-managing our actions.
You’ll also get training on how to deal with customer interactions if this is something you struggle with.

The office staff is where I noticed some problems since there was instability at time and led to breakdowns of communication. We also got a fair share of staff getting switched around and management to change frequently which was discouraging at times. 

Overall as a technician it was an inclusive environment where I received actual training and gained knowledge to take with me for life.

I've had several promotions/ raises since I've been here- I feel like I can keep learning and keep moving up
Even though it's full time in person we get perks like paid training, work trips and free lunches

The environment used to be pretty toxic but the owner really changed a lot and listened to feedback and it's now a place I want to stay and grow at- I hope he continues to work at it and maintains the vibe we have now.
It's busy & fast paced- especially when it's really hot or cold out
It's completely in person, which can be a hassle sometimes 

I have worked for Dr Hvac for 4 years now. I have gained so much knowledge in my role with lots of support and training from management. The culture here at Dr Hvac is positive and goes hand-in-hand with a transparent, healthy, and fun workplace. The hours here are perfect for myself and my family and I have always been offered lots of flexibility. Pay rates and benefits are great and there is always lots of opportunity for growth within the company. Most employees that work at Dr Hvac are down to earth, kind and friendly and make it a place that I look forward to going to on a daily basis. The most enjoyable part of my job for me, is that I get to do what I love most and that's making people happy by showing exceptional customer service skills!! 

A typical day involves wearing many hats - from booking calls/assisting customers  and selling services/products to dispatching team members. Management is actively  making positive changes, including implementing  SOP’s, streamlining work flows, and offering ongoing employee training. The company is growing and there are real opportunities to grow with it. 

While there is some perceived favouritism, it didn’t impact me personally, just stay focused on your own performance and responsibilities.

The most challenging aspect of the job can be keeping up with evolving expectations. However, the best part of the day is working alongside a great team.

 The best thing about here is there's always a great team of employees. The unfortunate thing is not many last.
Term of service seemed to rely heavily on who was preferred, rather than the individual's work ethic; most don't make it past 6mths. Typical day in office was stressful and on edge. It's difficult working and being micromanaged. 
Training was very minimal. There may be room for advancement,  but it rarely comes with a revised contract and raise to match. 

More potential for technicians. Definitely a good start to take off your career, and prepare you for the industry. 

Arrive at the shop around 7:30, most days i’m doing installs or deliveries to the job sites. During my time at DR HVAC i have learned so much about plumbing, boilers and hot water tanks. The management here is very organized and very helpful. The vibes with the installers and the office are all really great vibes and it’s a very healthy work environment. The hardest part of the job is challenging each installs because every house is different. The most enjoyable part of the job is working with the crew because it’s all good times working with them.

A typical day at Dr. HVAC for myself could start with being dispatched from home to my first of 3 to 5 calls using service systems to interact with customers and a top notch CRM to keep it all organized and not micro managed.
I am quite impressed with management I feel welcomed, safe and given the tools and knowledge to really succeed.
Transparency is the name of the game here.
