What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Travelling to the built site using public transportation

Stores are always under staffed, untrained volunteers are expected to make up the difference. You won’t have a set job for example, you work cash or ecom. So you have no time to work on one thing without getting pulled by ten other things. You’ll have company trucks showing up full of stuff with no notice. Stuff you thought was coming in doesn’t, and no one will ever tell you why. There’s no standard operating procedures, everything is problem solving.
If you ask for a piece of equipment, for example a dolly, you’ll be told to wait until someone donates one. You’ll be forced to do work, such as photos for ecom or researching products on your personal phone. Upper management will give you a sob story about how they’re a nonprofit, and all the money is going to building housing. But somehow they find money to hire a consulting firm.
When I started I hoped I’d be doing something to help my community. Sure they build housing for people who need it, and that’s a good thing. But you won’t get paid enough to make rent, let alone own a house yourself.

The atmosphere was always very welcoming and the people were oftentimes very helpful and welcoming to both customers and volunteers alike. Working as a volunteer is pretty simple, as you just need to go around and assist customers or the staff as they need it, generally consisting of providing information about the products or how to donate, or labour in order to take in new donations or reorganize the store. I learned some useful customer service and organizational skills as a result. The management was very nice and supportive, save for a couple of the higher ups who were always too stiff and demanding, but generally the workplace was a fun place to be. There aren't many difficulties in this job since it's all simple tasks that you can get used to quickly, so nothing very strenuous.

I loved working with the families, and it was especially fantastic to empower women from 'traditional' families to put on hardhats and steel-toed boots so that they could contribute to building their own homes. 

The purpose of the company is great but there tends to be a bias against non-Christians in the workplace. I was very much a people person but my boss was very corporate and this caused conflict when looking out for the best interests of the families who were to receive Habitat homes.

Being a volunteer at Habitat for Humanity was a challenging experience because you need to be patient enough to deal with customers or people who wants to donate something for the Restore. Explaining the policies and procedures to every customers is also helpful to build your communication skills. 

The management treated me well most especially the supervisor and the manager were considerate and approachable at all times whenever you needed to ask them or needed help.

The good thing about volunteering here was you will meet new people who can be your friends and will share their knowledge about how things works for the company.

I used to Volunteer in Build Crew Part. 
If you are not doing any job and even if you are, you must volunteer.

You must give your part to society and it feels good. 

Best part, working with people who are willing to volunteer. Age doesn't matter.

I remember there was CEO of a company and there were also students of Undergrad and they were all bonding. 

For me, it is best place to take off your mind from depression etc.

I have only volunteered once but I plan on future volunteer dates. I found management to be helpfull, understanding, friendly and informative in a non jugemental way. They even served to us at break time the best fresh homemade ginger cookies I've ever had!. I look forward to my next volunteer oppourtunity!. Great People, Learning & Fun Times. I enjoyed my time volunteering, especially considering that we were working outdoors in December/January!.

Getting to make new friends and having trust on them.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Group chat then planning right before work starts and we do the tasks right away.

I volunteered there for my highschool hours. They gave me HEAVY work, as of carrying heavy objects and stuff, cleaning, etc. which is fine I would be okay with it. BUT, they then refused to give me hours for one of the shifts that I worked there! they acted very very rude and basically called me a liar. I emailed the manager and she got me my hours, however, it was terrible to be treated like that for doing community hours.

There wasn't much structure to the volunteering, I would just make the merchandise look presentable and my covolunteer and I who had just met asked to do e-commerce. That was kind of taxing on the body moving and shifting the different furnitures to take pics of and upload to shopify. Amazing place to get some retail store experience.
