Halfords is great to work with other colleagues it can be really fun and if you love bikes the bikehut is for you! once you overlook that your exspected to sell cyclecare in any form to everyone even if thay dont want or need it  And thay sell some really good products. However the pressure put on management to catch every little penny from a customers for sales is massive. My managers was really helpful and supportive but you could tell when thay was stressed your worried about the days figures. The frontline team member incentives for sales are rubbish. Thay want everyone to think its one big family and they are there for the customer but behind close doors its all about money. There training is poor  its so bad its hit and miss  (my trainer neil however was great and passionate about his job) the training is not consistant its all in house so you basically spoon fed though everything enough that the company can throw you under the bus for incompitants rather than paying to plan to launch a really good training program. 

with the day to day running of the business and high targets, very little help and high pressure to get the money in the till, this compony runs like fast-fit and has so many procedures in place to make the job difficult to do and easy to get sacked from, this is a job you need to have no conscience for, to over price and over sell. something im not willing to do is sell things not reqired to hit targets.

all the regonals and managers above the regonals are all from kwick-fit the same managers who appered on watchdog for ripping people off a few years ago!

Worked in Bike Hut for 11 months, left because I was moving country. Within that time I learnt so much about cycles and repair, also about retail. I worked with people from other stores on track days and on stocktakes, and without fail every person I met from Halfords was a genuine interesting person. The whole 11 months, I can't think of a single person I would feel uncomfortable approaching if I saw them in the street. I wouldn't commute a 30 mile a day round trip if it wasn't for good colleagues, and they were the best.

They are a good company to work for.  They offer a substantial amount of training such as MOT and ATA which is great.  You also can get a pension and the share save scheme.  The upper management can be supportive.  The hardest part of the job is the work load and lack of staff at times.  You obviously want to do your best and the company expects you to but you stress yourself out to reach that goal.  The regional managers are good people. They will look after you if you show them dedication and trust

It was very productive and very enjoyable every second of it, there was never a dull moment and the team was very helpful and energetic, I learned many things for example how to build bikes straight out the box or how to repair bikes and scooters. Also working the till and tending to customers questions and enquiries and pointing them in the correct direction and telling them about the details and specs of the bike/merchandise the just brought.

i was one of the youngest members of the halford's team joining them while i was in college it was a nice work environment, great team to work with, that i had many common interests with. i learned about alot of products that i would deal with and a wider knowledge of my bike interest at the time, hardest part of the job i would have to say is the customer. They have sometimes little understanding of products and explaining is like talking to a brick wall.

I would steer well clear from this place! They don’t give care about their staff and management are all about each other! Remember the better u perform the more money they get it doesn’t get any better for the employees There is no work life balance the hours are unsociable and they don’t care for ur family needs! There is nothing positive about this place apart from other members of staff who could be friends for life. 

Calculating gas, motel and eating vouchers for truck drivers.  Making out an expanse account  Liabilities and Assets sheets.  Management left us pretty much alone to do our job.  The hardest part was the work was mainly seasonal.  The most enjoyable getting along with all.

The worst place to work.
Money greedy managers who act like dictators, 
Expected to hit  targets just to get managers a bonus. That’s right you work your f***ing a** off for some monkey to reap the rewards. If you don’t hit these targets expect to be grilled and abused for not doing your job. Training is on line which you have to carry out in your own time

This was a very different experience than Id had before and gave me more experience that I wanted to have. 
The hardest part of the job was the learning curve, as I was expected to learn quickly about the job and the products on sale, but this was worth it as I felt that I had progressed a lot in a short space of time.
