A typical day at work consists of scanning a diversity of inpatients and outpatients of varying difficulties. Before scanning each case, I review the patient's history and any previous imaging, reviewing history with the patient and explaining the test at hand. The different ultrasounds performed vary, including (but not limited to): routine abdomen, carotid, female pelvis, male pelvis, and leg veins. I have been involved in interventional procedures including liver, breast and thyroid biopsies. 

I have gained confidence in my skills at the Hamilton General Hospital. My coworkers are all very supportive and helpful. I have seen how a functional ultrasound team can be beneficial not only personally and to the team but to the patient and the hospital. 

The hardest part of my job is managing the heavy influx of patients, but the team work allows for each patient to be seen and given a quality exam. 

The most enjoyable part of my job is to interact with patients.  Whether it be a patient who has been an inpatient for a while or an outpatient that is having health problems, I know that I am only one part of their bigger health-care-picture and enjoy bringing a friendly face to the situation they are in.

I consider myself lucky for being able to work in Hamilton General Hospital. My experience there taught me the importance of time management – my preceptor didn’t pull any punches, and was extremely deadline-driven. Staff members' no-nonsense attitude pushed me to work harder, and manage my case loads way more efficiently. I worked there as a rehabilitation nurse responsible for the medication preparation and administration to patients with acquired brain injuries. I participated in round table discussions on best treatment practice and helped craft care plans for specific patients.  Administration work included admitting and discharging patients, processing orders and transcribing medications. I collaborated with and demonstrated leadership qualities when working within an inter-professional team. The hardest part of the job was taking care of myself while taking care of others. Getting enough sleep and eating healthy food was challenging especially when it gets busy on the floor. The most enjoyable part of of the job was seeing patient from being ill to being well and working with awesome, fun and caring staff members.

The HGH was my first place of employment as a new Radiographer. It's a trauma, neuro and cardiovascular centre. It is also a teaching hospital with the most complex patients from Hamilton to the outside communities. 
It's high volume place of work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It was a good place to begin creating a foundation of core skills. 
It was a fun place to work despite the difficult work because it had a large volume of new grads and younger Technologists. We had a supportive working environment. We supported each other and had good camaraderie outside of work.

Hamilton General is a place to start a real professional life. You will experience busy shifts, you will see different procedures, you have the chance to meet medical staff from all over the world. Salary is reasonable. Management is doing a good job in there. All employees and students are very friendly and supportive. We sometimes have fun together in places out of the hospital. All in all, I suggest you apply for it!

Completely exhausted,  drained from being over worked and never being appreciated

I've spent many hours working at the hospital as a volunteer. The people are great and the staff is great. The management and co-workers really help and motivate you to get started. They're excellent teachers. A typical day includes helping patients, and staff members. I've learned a lot of social skills and how to approach conflicts. Hardest part is just starting the job off and most enjoyable part of the job is interacting with patients.

As a Volunteer At Hamilton General Hospital, I Enjoyed working there for a lot of reasons. First, new engaging and enthusiastic environment. Second, Dealing with all kinds of people from Professional to Patients and Visitors and Co-Workers and Medical Students.

BIg cooperation. Good learning opportunities, however nurses are understaffed and not prioritized - however big developments and changes are happening which may or may not lead to even more shortages due to all the money being spent on new updates for recently built hospitals instead of staffing crisis.

I have had the privilege to work with the most committed and hardworking nurses in the field. They are very approachable and supportive to new nurses! 
I have had many learning experiences on the unit. It was a great environment for me to improve myself as a nurse and grow as a new nurse.

Generally busy at various levels; Good team work and collaboration;
some aspects of work are fragmented but opportunity to pursue higher learning and new experiences
