They say you cant have everything in life. Hansa has been so good for me these past 4 years of my life in Canada that it somehow grows on you and you kind of get attached working for the school. I know i cant work all my life here in order to survive and take care of my family and this is the reason i want to progress and do better. i only wish they had a steady income increase and would be in a position to give benefits and a permanent position. otherwise its a perfect place with very friendly staff and management.

Hansa was on the whole very flexible when it came to curricula and teaching styles — if you got the job done (satisfied the clients), you were good in their eyes. On the other hand, they paid very little, and paid everyone the same: paid experienced teachers the same rate they paid newbies off the street; paid great teachers as little as they paid bad ones. So, in a sense, the better you got at your craft — and as a consequence, the more students you attracted, and the more you had to work for them — the less, per actual hours spent in class and on prep and correction, you made. 

I do not recommend working for this company as it offers no job security, benefits, or appreciation for your experience and skills. 
I liked some of the colleagues I used to work with, but they are no longer with the company.
I learned that I deserve better than being paid a little over $20 with no benefits after being with the company for over a decade.

Hansa is the best place to enjoy what you have learned as an ESL teacher in theory and here is the place to put it in practice. I loved the culture and the management. Very trusting staff and management. Students are a wonderful mix of cultures from North America to Brazil and the Middle East. 

Can be a fun place to work but also challenging because there is no formal curriculum and teachers are responsible for designing their own lessons for each class with no guidelines. Not a place for a highly structured person especially since there the school accepts students on an ongoing basis

As a supply teacher I rarely got calls to come in and work. The ppay is great but the job security is not there. I got called in for 2 weeks even though I was available for several months. Sometimes they give very little notice. Having a dedicated supply teacher on site would be beneficial for job security.  

Avoid at all costs. The pay is pretty good, but it's a diploma mill. There is no set curriculum and management lets people go for any reason. It's full of nepotism and incompetent leadership. They are vindictive and will actively mess over instructors. 


After some time teaching at Hansa I feel part of the family and really welcomed to the company. I have been teaching there for almost two years now and I only have to thank the staff for the nice opportunity it was given to me.

I enjoyed teaching French and Arabic at Hansa. I had a chance to meet and work with an amazing team and was able to improve my communication skills and loved working in such diverse and rich environment.

The staff are great and provide support to teachers. Of course your mileage may vary, but the students (from all over the world) are eager to learn. The school gives you freedom to teach however you'd like - but admin work is unpaid
