Typical work day is 7:30-4 or 8:30 to 5 for office staff. You are able to adjust the times as long as you get 8 hrs done. While the social activities and colleagues are great and good to work with, the salary and benefits are not. There's not much flexibility as the culture is old school and sometimes not open to change.

Usually always lots of work and management always pushes you to do everything quick and overwork you. Because it is a job shop and do work based on customers, this is expected but quite tiresome. Wages are low and not competitive, to justify overworking yourself.
Some teams always look to blame and don't take responsibility, which is frustrating. Management is also fairly incompetent and a lot of the time employees have to train the upper management on certain things (happens everywhere but still annoying)

Overall, Hansen is a good place to work and learn for a new comer looking to get into the market, but you'll quickly outgrow the wages and benefits they're able (or willing) to offer.


I have worked in a lot of shops, mostly smaller businesses as I generally don't like the culture of large companies. The machine shop at Hansen seems like a small business with the big company benefits. I had left the trade for 5 years and never planned to return, but I am now back working in CNC and enjoying it, mostly due to the management style in the machine shop. Fair expectations for work, great understanding of work life balance, very accommodating and all they ask is that you do an honest days work and communicate. If you are willing to work, be responsible and own your work, then you should do well at Hansen in the machine shop. Good group of people in the shop, supportive foreman and fair expectations. Pay is fair for the low level of stress and moderate skill level required. I would recommend the machine shop to anyone that is looking for work as a newer graduate or a seasoned veteran looking for a break from the normal stressful shop  environment. 

Saw the growth of the company within the span of 4 years and they nearly doubled in every aspect (employees, company sales). Was hired as a shop helper and moved up to Welder because I went to school for it. Saw only an increase of $2 in hourly wage  in 4 years. Hansen is noticeably on the lowest end of the market salary spectrum, with other companies doing similar work and same job positions but dollars more in pay. If you’re new to the country or just getting into a specific trade, Hansen is a great beginner portal. Don’t expect to make even more than $22/h at your time being employed there though. It aint 1990’s anymore.

A typical day was to review work orders for production and organize the work load.
I learned to become very efficient and was usually always ahead of schedule.
Management was patient and overall happy with my performance.
My co workers gave me respect for my hard work.
The hardest part again was working hard in coveralls in the hot summer months.
The most enjoyable part was feeling good about the job I did every day all the time.

Excellent employment opportunity that allowed me to apply what I have learned through my career education,while learning and enhancing my skill-sets at the same time. Learned about employee benefits administration, recruitment, payroll processing, health and wellness programs for their employees, etc. …

Good place for newcomers until you find the job you want. Do not expect career growth. No path for promotion. Nothing to expect from some higher ups. A lot of workers will make you think twice in staying in the company, but some are really good and friendly, specially the shop foreman.

I’ve been here for 16 years and I plan on sticking around. 
Always learning something new.
Managment is willing to train and help you reach and exceed your limits but in good ways. 
Lots of social activities. Wage is fair to what you experience is. 


I’ve been working at Hansen for just under 4 years now. . I’ve felt welcome and part of the team since day 1. The management is great. Foreman wants you too succeed and pushes you to be your best along with all around support from co workers. 

A very team oriented company. A lead hand in every position. Every day you learn something new about the job and about yourself. Valuable staff meetings to keep the workplace safe and keeping the standard of quality in our work high.

A Excellent Leader ( foreman ) in the shop. A visionary Owner.  Every position learned to succeed with patient mentorship. Teamwork is a key to their success. Many Staff meetings keeping the workplace safe and the quality of work high.
