The safety of our passengers, pilots, and team members are our top priority. As front counter agents, we check everything from weight and balance of the plane, aircraft, time, weather, transportation of dangerous goods, to the well being of the passengers and the pilots before we board every flight. 

A typical day at work includes checking in passengers, weighing their bags and checking for dangerous items with passengers. We also tackle freight and merchandising. We also take care of giving travel information and tour packages of our bases such as Vancouver, Victoria, Whistler and Richmond, to name a few. We also make sure our front counters and lounge are in tip-top shape by cleaning and providing coffee, tea, and pastries for the passengers

I don’t know where to begin. Worked for this company for years. Countless mistakes made with my pay,  management does not care about pilots and only makes decisions based on useless data.

 Zero loyalty to long term employee's. Even at the new pay rates it is impossible to make ends meet in Vancouver. Not necessarily harbour air’s fault but just the reality in that area of our country. 

You will have to work weekends for over 5 years to get up the seniority list to become a weekday only pilot. 4 days on 3 days off (always including weekends no exceptions). So if your significant other works a 9-5 it isn’t really possible to maintain.

They like to say that HA has a good company culture and work life balance, however this is aviation so don’t be fooled by the buzz words. They need to implement some kind of rotating schedule for people with wives and families. That is the only reason why anyone would stay flying floats vs airlines. What good is being home every night if you can never have a day off with your family. 

The workday is fast-paced and varied, with employees and leaders often pulled in multiple directions. During my time in the role, I gained valuable insight into airline operations and a clearer understanding of approaches that are less effective. Management is focused on profitability and meeting shareholder expectations, and recent organizational changes have impacted overall workplace culture and morale for long term employees. Despite this, there is strong camaraderie among front-line teams, which was the most enjoyable part of the job. The hardest part was managing multiple responsibilities while addressing overwork and uncompensated tasks, which were not only unacknowledged by senior leadership but, at times, actively encouraged.

Harbour Air has an excellent team of people working there but all the counter and dock staff work very long hours in the summer time and only make $13-$14 an hour.

The amount of work everyone does is not rewarded by management and staff that have been there for over one year are not offered raises or medical/dental benefits.

Unless you're a pilot or it's your first job in the aviation industry and you solely need to establish networking contacts for future jobs with other airlines, I would not recommend working here.

The Management is terrible, unfriendly enviroment attempt to be progressive but lots of Unwoke comments daily.

The daily grind was draining on mental health 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Show up do your job , lots of standing around and talking if you management  but high expectations if you are not

Shifts were all over the place and sometimes started early and finished late. Employees were very nice however management was not consistent. Didn't appreciate being used to fill a gap. Not enough recognition for good work however some trouble makers got away with making more waves. Lovely customers to deal with.

Like every job is going to be tough times, but there's some really amazing people who work here and it's a great team environment. It's really hard when weather is bad and we get yelled at by some passengers, but then there's so many nice people who make up for it. Wish management was a little more receptive, and disciplined people who weren't the best fit for the role. It seems like somewhat bad behavior go on too long because it's easier than firing them.

Work with great people and have made friendships to last however the pay is disgustingly low and you are worked like a rented mule in the summer time, often 12+ hours. The pay is minimum wage and there are next to no incentives to work harder. Hardly any parking so you are expected to pay to park, which is over an hour of your wage. 

Both staff and management are hostile and rude. Expect more than you can humanly do. Don’t provide any positive feedback and push back pay to hold over your head. Great work shame its ran terribly and irresponsible. If some of the management spent less time on coffee or smoke breaks and inside might be able to get somewhere 

I worked at Harbour Air for 12 years. I thought that I was treated fairly, I was supported and listened to. Amazing staff amazing health plan. Would recommend this company highly.
