Working at this nonprofit was one of the worst professional experiences I’ve ever had. What should have been meaningful and fulfilling turned out to be draining, chaotic, and downright toxic.

Management has no clue what they’re doing — there’s zero leadership, constant miscommunication, and a total lack of direction. It felt like decisions were made on a whim, and when things fell apart (which they often did), the blame was pushed onto staff who were already stretched thin.

There is no real structure, no proper training, and absolutely no support. You’re thrown into the deep end and expected to figure it out while juggling unrealistic workloads. Burnout is treated like a badge of honor, and anyone who dares to speak up is either ignored or quietly pushed out.

Favoritism runs rampant, toxic personalities are protected, and hard workers are exploited. There’s no accountability — just endless meetings that go nowhere and leadership more concerned with appearances than actual impact.

The saddest part? They hide behind a “feel-good” mission to justify underpaying people and overworking them. If you care about your sanity, growth, or being treated like a human being, do yourself a favor and stay far away from this place.

Prepare agency orders. Provide training and supervision to all team order fillers. Inspect incoming perishable foods and sort appropriately. Clean and organize the cooler after orders are done and prior to storing new food items. Prepare order sheets for the next day and help determine what items will be added to orders. Operate forklift and pallet jack to restock cooler and order prep area. Make pickups and deliveries in Winnipeg Harvest vehicles. Load and unload Winnipeg Harvest vehicles. Other duties as assigned

Great place to volunteer.  Lots to do in a variety of warehouse positions.  Supervisors very pleasant to work with.  Meet all kinds of people from all types of backgrounds. Wpg Harvest offers some training courses as well to those who qualify.

Difficulties:  Work is dirty as many containers are very grubby.  Can be VERY busy or quite slack, depending on donations.  Some containers can be very heavy.

Overall, a great place to work.

Place is good for putting in hours and volunteer work is great, You'll also get praised with, I believe an award if you continuously put in the the work and effort, People around are widely helpful as well, so you never have the hassle of doing things yourself there's always someone around with a helping hand and can never find yourself not talking to anybody, By all means though it's not for all people, But I myself consider to contribute and help out all around

If you get hired to this company that will pay you minimum wage, run the other way.

The job posting is not exactly what the job is.  

The management has no concept or experience in operation.  

No job advancement and you are walking on eggshells.  The company has no idea how to deal with conflict.  There is no warning before you are let go.  There is no reason provided and are very unprofessional on a epic scale.

after school, we volunteer at Winnipeg Harvest. we unpacked some goods like flours, pasta, etc.
I had friends during my volunteer, we help each other.
the management was very nice, they thought us how to be more respectful and confident to each other." don't be shy to each other".
the best thing that is part of my job is I got lots of friends now and I know that I helped a lot of people by just doing little things.

bread room was find we would organize all the bread items by date then put the expired breads in a big trash can 
in the canned room we would cross out all the barcodes on the items then organize them by date then organize them by product
i learned better organizational skills and time management skills the hardest part of the job would have been getting there at the time because i was younger with no way of transportation

The other volunteers were kind and friendly. I enjoyed going to Winnipeg Harvest to see them and sort the food and kits. I was able to expand my knowledge on how food gets where it goes, and just more about the food industry.
