Haworth, Inc

I worked for Haworth Inc for almost 12 years, my. last position held was in the  HR dept as a Plant Clerk III and liaison between warehouse an office until the company decided to transition and move the manufacturing warehouse to the head office in USA.   Haworth Inc allowed me to grow  within the company, I took many classes/courses and upgrades in Haworth's onsite training facility. I would still be working for Haworth Inc, if the manufacturing plant remained in Calgary,

I started with Haworth in their vinyl receiving dept. for Life space walls, then moved to Inventory control in charge of Cycle counters, I also assisted financial team in tax audits. 

I was then promoted to  the purchasing dept. to help in inventory tracking by using Baan and SAP ERP systems;  as a quick learner Haworth was adding many extra jobs to my job profile.  I started doing Kronos task force, along with Employee Benefits and then was moved to HR dept and facilitated measures for all areas including labour hours, shipping receiving and fall off materials.

Through my time in HR I created a full picture step by step guide for the warehouse Managers and Supervisors to follow with many other aspects and FAQ's and forms to kiosk.

Orientations, Great Teamwork, and control over organizing my workday. Cold calls, appointments, walk-ins, referrals and repeat customers. 

How to maintain a great relationship with my customers for years. 

Managed to reach my earning goals and was able to organize my workday using excel, word directories, public calendars for public appointments. I learned how to problem solve for the customer while signing up contractual agreements. 

Had great support from my superiors in finding out information on how to better serve the customer.

Setting aside personal time for myself was a little difficult. 

The gratitude of building my integrity with the customer.

The most valuable thing about working at Haworth which was previously Smed International was the fact that I had the privilege of working with both office and factory employees and one of the most enjoyable parts of my job. Haworth gave great opportunitees for advancement and encouraged training in order to excel in your position or for another interested postition within the organization. I was able to interact with many suppliers of which made my commuinication skills a value add to my responsibilities.

Never had any manufacturing experience so this was a great introduction - however, for a company that prides themselves on "culture" they do not have an accurate pulse of the real culture among manufacturing members.  This company seems to be much more concerned with the office staff than the manufacturing staff that actually keeps the company running.  They tend to overpromise and underdeliver when it comes to advancement opportunities.

Limited career development opportunities within Calgary. Head office is in Michigan, which can be frustrating at times. However, working within a values based, family owned business with a focus on learning and continuous improvement has many benefits.

Troubleshooting so many CNC machines here everyday. I made a big achivement here that let my boss and co-workers know my strength. I got the best bonus here more than any others, because I could fix the problem more quickly than others. That is why I like here. Because everybody know me and call me the boss. Unfortunately the company was shut down and moved back to USA.

I personally like Haworth Ltd. It was my first working place in Canada. I got many good supervisors, coordinators and coworkers.
The experience I earned from there make me still skillful worker with my current professional career. 

I was the facilities supervisor for Haworth, the people we awesome really fun to work with. We always got our jobs completed , I was in charge of the preventative maintenance, the building core team... It will be in my heart forever as one of the best places I have ever worked. 

You get a great work environment, training and support from management. Very progressive company with a great culture. Highly recommended company to work for.

Metric driven company.  Good overall, but little room for progression past middle management.  Hardest part is the lack of challenge, gets bogged down in day to day.  Most enjoyable part are the people.  Good group to work with.
