Health Care Aide Practicum

-i learned so many things like being responsible to organized with the residents,providing personal care like assist them with their ADL (activity of daily living)  cooperate with staff members accepting feedback for improvement of skills, follow the care plan of each residents,report to the nurse with the residents behaviour if the resident get aggresive and refuse to have a bath,when you give the satisfaction of each residents for their needs.

A work place that follows the core values of the Centre in the fulfilment of its philosophy to serve those in need of help efficiently and effectively;  and to make them as independent as possible with respect and dignity.

I learned a lot from this company from the staffs, nurses and most especially from patients. I can handle very stressful situations, I learned documentations and assisting clients using different kinds of mechanical lift. I provide dignity, independence, privacy, preference and safety of clients.

The company where I had my practicum has a diversified culture  which I did like it. Employers are friendly and have willingness to share their knowledge about caring the clients/ residents.

Aa typical day at work is ensuring that my residents are well taken care of and really happy from the job I do. The best part of my work is the satisfaction I get from making my team and residents succeed.

I have worked as Home Care for 2 years look after people who has Dementia and Alzheimer i really enjoy working with them sharing their views with their family too. you have to be friendly with them take care of them as they are your own family.

practicum was challenging and enjoyable. gained lots of experience and knowledge while interacting with different residents. 
it was fun working with great buddy mentors and staffs. 
worked as a team.

what i found the most enjoyable with being a health care aide while learning the ropes of it all was talking to the residents and listening to their stories or how they would all love to sing.

Allows direct involvement with clients and comes with a lot of satisfaction when you see a smile on your clients face. A typical day involved assisting with ADLs, companionship and assisting with meals.

Usually busy day for a start but as the day goes by it goes smooth as time pass by. I learned how to adjust to new environment, as well as how to deal with the elderly patient. Overall it a great experience.
