Unless you are part of the "friends and family" group, outsiders will not do well in this organization. Management only promotes their little favourites, those who are constantly patting themselves on their backs while kissing the shoes of management. Workplace culture has never been good; very high staff turnover reflects management's inability to lead, HR is absolutely useless. Watching intelligent staff of clinical epidemiologists, researchers and analysts become angry, frustrated and their efforts unappreciated is a typical work day. The desire to do what is best for Ontario's health care system is often overshadowed by the bloating egos of top management's desire to advance their own careers. Management is fearful of Unions and will do everything in their power to convince new recruits and hires that it is a great workplace, it is not.

Absolutely horrible work culture. The turn over rate is incredibly high. The HR here is the worst I've ever seen.  Your work is not valued nor recognized. There is no room for advancement. You spend the day wishing you were working elsewhere. Benefits are good but pay is on the low end. They stress employee engagement and development but nothing is really being done. Very low enthusiasm. Not a fun place to work. They have a job description but you are expected to do three times beyond that. Your opinion is asked for but makes no difference in anything.

Poor culture, no support for staff, secretive, if you have a problem keep it to yourself because management doesn't want to hear about it. 

Organization lacks true leadership and seen as a lame duck in Ontario.

Spent the team building day in December learning the difference between a hamster, a chipmunk and a chinchilla.  Nice way to waste taxpayers money.  Meanwhile I get "nickel and dimed" on my expenses to conduct proper business.

Challenging and sometimes rewarding, comes with all of the bureaucracy you'd expect from a government agency. Good people who are mostly doing 2-3 persons' jobs. Senior Management pays lip service to life work balance but to advance you are expected to work very long hours.

No respect for your work, no good communication within team, no your different voice, no security for your work and no good management.

If you really want to join, be careful!!! Don't be fool. Watch your work and speed, they just want to take over your work, and then let you go. 

If you are not so smart to deal with those people, give up!

The HR department at HQO deserves a lot of credit. Once a new system was rolled out (such as when we moved from UltiPro to DayForce HRIS) we had ample training and time to understand the new system. 

The IT support team was always quick to get the system back up and running.

Fantastic employee support, programs, benefits, management staff is second to none. 

HQO provides the most valuable reporting and information to Ontario Health Ministry, from Quality Improvements, Health System Performance and Patient Engagements to name a few.

The opportunity to build skills in new areas allows greater job satisfaction.  The ability to work from home provides for flexibility and travel across the province to meet incredible people in the healthcare field.

Work life balance is really non-existent, they push for unreasonable deadlines with unrealistic expectations. Senior Management does not support their teams well. However there has been a cultural shift in recent months, and is slowly getting better.

Amazing work gets done at HQO. It’s a collaborative environment with passionate professional work force. Research, analysis and reporting is done with integrity.
