As a Personal Health Coach I love the clients and that is the only reason for showing up everyday.  Ever since the bankruptcy on August 7, 2015 so much has changed and not for the better.  People were hired into management positions that should NOT be there.  They have no motivational skills and only care about the bottom line and not the employees.  I have seen a lot of staff leave and not look back because of Area Managers being referred to as "bullies".  From what I hear from past employees it used to be a great company to work for but now you get thrown in to the position with no proper training and most times have to work by yourself because they don't know how to hire or would rather save money then hiring help.  There are no sick days and the benefits are substandard, there is no marketing to attract new clients except for a ridiculous radio ad that aired before Christmas......why not after Christmas when people are actually looking to lose weight. More often than not we run out of product and have to wait weeks or months before we get anything, I don't see a future for this company which is really sad because I know a lot of good people who have worked hard over the years and now the company is at jeopardy once again. The atmosphere in the centre is very welcoming and enjoyable. i loved my centre director. the reason for the bad review is because of the management of our area. the company went through changes, and our area manager was laid off. we got a new area manager to look after our area. she is in way over her head and is struggling. she is not experienced with our program and will phones other centres for answers which means we sometimes wait DAYS to receive answers to questions that should be answered right away. it is not fully her fault...i am sure there must be a lot of pressure for her right now. in a work role, she is not good for the position and will get angry with centres. if my centre director or i ask a question she doesn;t know the answer to..she will be very short with us.. and another centre director has 4 kids and needed to stay home and she flipped out at her too. she needs to go. not ok. you are losing staff. i am a current employee but am looking for work...same with my entire area pretty much. my other area manager before bankruptcy came to my centre all the time and this area manager comes maybe once..no one knows where she is and on the phone we hear her dog barking.......so she obviously is not at centres..

The clients are the best part of the job. This company has been sold twice in the couple years and they don't keep their employees properly informed yet expect them to take the brunt of grievances from the client. They are on the verge of bankruptcy and a position with them is unstable.

You're supposed to get a lunch break but usually don't. Especially if there is only you in the centre for months or years at a time. 
They don't care if you are legitimately sick you are expected to be there face to face with clients. 

In my personal experience when they accidentally miss paying you it takes one or 2 pay periods to be paid properly. They keep giving excuses like we will run payroll for you by Monday and then Monday turns to Tuesday and so forth. 

This company has been through many "transitions"as they like to call it which have hurt customers and staff financially and emotionally. Upper management is snarky and scripted in regards to genuine complaints. Also center directors are now responsible for changing tube lights ceiling tiles etc... in their suits and dresses and heels etc. Nothing like getting dressed up to paint or perform maintenance on the center. 

I wouldn't recommend working here.

A typical work day as an Area Manager would always start off with a daily communication to my Staff 9 centers, would include goals for the day, review from pervious, daily incentives, motivational tools and  tips. would spent the day visiting 2-3 locations working with staff hands on training with areas of opportunity and build on areas of strength.

Management was great, always there to offer support if needed. Was a big family feeling type of business, My Peers and Co-workers were amazing and would always be there to bounce ideas, tips and support whenever needed.

The hardest part of the job I would have to say would have been that because there was always something that could be worked on, improved or enhanced that I always found myself working.. Not necessarily a bad thing just sometimes finding the balance between work and home.

The most enjoyable part of my job was definitely working with the staff, getting into the centers and working hands on with any of the day to day operational training, be it procedural to sales techniques, I just loved working with the teams and seeing them grow and be successful within their roles.

	Meeting monthly quotas (exceeding $30,000 per month)
	Developing daily agenda
	Conducting company protocols
	Financing
	Conducting corporate outreach programs
	Local store marketing

	Assisting clients with structure, accountability, and  continuous success with their individual weight loss programs (over 100 clients per week)

	Responsible for ongoing employee training and development
	Ensures that staffs individual goals are met  as well as my own
	Ensures opening and closing duties are complete as well as   
daily cash outs

	Responsible for all receiving and exiting inventory
	Interviews potential staff/coaches, open ended questioning, mirroring, tie-downs

	Deals with customer complaints, services, and refunds
	Ensures customer satisfaction is 100% at all times

Very fast paced work environment with many levels of clientele and service throughout Canada. Variety from day to day tasks, competitive staff and stores, and sales goals.

Reviewed, educated and supported clients as well as consultations, marketing, budget, banking. Handled all functions of the centre on a daily basis.
Earned an understanding of many weight related medical conditions which enabled us to better serve our clients.
Being the centre director it was of highest importance to reflect a positive and welcoming atmosphere.
My staff were very supportive and positive, they reflected respect compassion and privacy with our clients.
Weight Loss programs are an investment and not everyone can afford the investment, it is always disheartening to see someone walk away from something so important due to financial reasons.
This industry is incredibly rewarding, to watch someone walk through our door carrying weight, health and self-esteem issues and leave the program a completely different person, leaving the weight, most, if not all the health issues behind and see them beam with self confidence, well, it doesn't get any better than that.

On a typical day at Herbal Magic I meet with our regular clients and coach them through their new lifestyle change, document their progress, and give them much needed support.  I learned so much about good heath, proper eating and how to become even more understanding to what certain customers needs.  This job is all about working together as a team to come up with ideas to help the clients and centre succeed.  Working with the staff here is like working with family, including the management.  The hardest part of my job is seeing the hurt and frustration in the clients when they first come to us for help. It just breaks my heart. That is what brings me to the most enjoyable part of my job, where I get to see the clients that we have helped, come through the door and they are so proud of their success and they are so appreciative for what we have done to help them through this.

Throughout the day, I would coach and plan with clients to achieve and maintain weight loss goals. I learned a lot about the different struggles clients had, and helped provide solutions for success. Working in the highest revenue center in Calgary, I am used to a fast paced environment, also focusing on additional sales to aid to client needs and to achieve company sales goals. I struggled the most after the economy took a turn, as we were unable to keep investments coming in. It was a company wide struggle, but as a team, we all collaborated to do everything we could to keep the business thriving. The best part about my experience with Herbal Magic was meeting all types of people and helping them create and live a healthy lifestyle, knowing that I made a positive impact on my clients lives.

Recently worked for Herbal Magic in Ontario. And I have to say that people who actually join are being scammed. You can go to your local Wal-Mart and get the same product on the shelf for under 50.00 a month instead of paying 400.00 a month after paying around 1500 to join!!! The company isn't fair at all to their employees, also keep in mind we really aren't educated in this field...I worked in clothing and know nothing about weight loss...your to BS your way through the whole thing...not to mention it yes does work only cause of the little food you eat. They don't give breaks to those who are by themselves in a work place and only care about selling 54.00 dollar bottle that does you only 7 days then about the client itself. I wouldn't recommend this job or the program to anyone...I had to quit...I was hurt taking advantage of someones emotions and making them pay into a huge debt to lose weight....

The company had a great vision of building a great company culture however over time with too many changes in management, things changed. Overall, enjoyed working at the company because hard working and ambitious people were appreciated and had opportunities to succeed. There was also a potential to make a lot of money at the higher levels. The job was what you made out of it. Client interactions were the best part of the job because they LOVED  what the program did for them and we get to experience the gratitude.
