I worked at CSN Herbers North as a Detailer and while some parts of the job were decent, the overall experience was disappointing.

The technicians were friendly and easy to work with, which was a highlight of the job. However, management was not very supportive. Communication was lacking, and there was very little recognition for hard work. Many of my co-workers put in the bare minimum effort, yet they were treated the same or even better than those who went above and beyond. I gave my best every day and was rewarded only with more work and no appreciation.

The position required a lot of outdoor labor during extremely cold winter weather. Tasks included jumpstarting cars, brushing off heavy snow, and shoveling snow in freezing temperatures, which made the work physically demanding and uncomfortable.

Another major issue was the lack of proper parking for staff. While managers had access to good spots, regular employees often struggled to find anywhere suitable to park.

The lunchroom was small, poorly maintained, and rarely cleaned, making it an unpleasant space to take breaks.

In summary, this job demanded a lot from employees without offering the support or appreciation they deserved. If you are considering applying here, be prepared for hard work in cold weather, minimal recognition, and very little concern for staff well-being.

For Reference: I was the parts-coordinator at the west location, and mirror matcher at the south.

Honestly, this is probably one of the worst companies I've ever worked for in trades. The position pays significantly under industry standards, boasts you being "Salary" but doesn't give you any of the perks of being salaried, and convinces you to not file lost time claims because they'll pay you, (since you were injured due to a safety hazard) and then docks your pay anyways and makes excuses. They require you to be highly skilled at the job, but then tell you it has "no requirements" so they don't pay to industry standard. As a Parts Coordinator, you are in charge of all of the invoicing, inventory management, tracking, month end, credits (which you have targets to make every month) but they consider this entry level, and not a management position. It's overall the worst body shop I've ever worked at and will warn everyone about them.

The staff are great it was a good environment to be around 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The pay not getting paid fairly they run a team pay setup which does not work. The estimates are not written correctly you put in a supplement and they take your hours back when they send in the final they take the hours away it’s a tough place to make money I was told I would only make money if I worked till 10 at night everyday 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The morale is low manager doesn’t seem to care to bring up the morale at all everyone just does there work and leaves 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Show up paint cars watch the mountain of painted parts get damaged and not get paid to re paint them they don’t pay for warranty work that a previous employee did

Herbers used to be a great company to work for. Management changed and things went completely downhill. President and upper management do not appreciate the employees and believe employees should be thankful they have a job. It is a toxic workplace. Long term employees haven’t had a pay increase in 8+ years. 

High expectations quick turnover little chance to move up in the company. Poor quality repairs were often passed onto the customers. Cars are repaired in an assembly line sort of system little care was given for hidden damage. Body techs often dumped more work onto the preppers. Paint and primer usage is recorded and evaluated constantly for cost saving purposes. 

I worked her for just over a year, the manager at the location that I worked for was very lazy and did not help staff when needed. The training experience was amazing and you will learn a lot. But the manager will not promote or give you any raises even if you do a good job. HR is amazing and will help when they can. 

Well typical day was just cleaning cars, I learned how to polish which was cool and how to park cars. The management sucked, I think all they cared about was hitting bonus because they would hit bonuses. You also can’t be sick not allowed at this company.

I have very much enjoyed working for Herbers. it offered a relaxed enviroment with fast paced work through the busy winter months. Your days fly by most of the time. My co-workers were all great to work with and the management style is wonderful. She is hard working and professional, but still friendly and relatable.

It was all terrible nothing good about it at all

Lots to learn in short period of time. Get ready for long hours and cold or hot weather conditions, and Hard manual labor. If your new to the auto body trade I would defiantly recommend this place under the pretense that you're gonna work hard and are prepared for anything
