Place was good to me, then new Manager changed my shift for the reason of night shift, that never happened, then the reason was too align everybodys shift, that kinda also never happened,  company still has Mon-Fri, 7-7, 4-10s and 5-4, my shift was 14-14 and that was the only one deleted, then the reason was after 12 days worked you become less productive, after this excuse I figured the writing was on the wall. I fought for understanding but it never came so it  forced me to look for employment elsewhere.  This was supposed to be my retirement job but a shift change altered my plans. Company has had some difficult decisions to make with the loss of some big contracts and stiff competition. Wages were cut and long term employees were  looked upon as financial liabilities rather than assets. Corporate has a great influence on decisions made in the region and sometimes not sure if they have the FTM Branch best interests in mind.  Unfortunately my situation left a horrible taste in my mouth but enjoyed the work and money was good. I understand the moves made with finances and staff realignment but my shift never affected any of this in any way, shape or form. Union job and none  of the corporate benefits apply, however Manitoba Blue Cross was pretty good. No sick days though. Fantastic co-worker group, made life long friends during my 13+ years there. I would recommend taking a job there but be wary as changes are made abruptly. If they can secure a couple more contracts things will get better. 

Just a side note to any managers that read this. Make your offer par to the current employees. Do not create segregation right out of the starting blocks of your new hires. 

I looked to HERC RENTALS at first as a place to do an unpaid practicum for college credits, (Logistics and Warehouse Management). Within minutes of talking with their Canada wide recruiter about a position they had open as a Class 1 driver in town I knew this is a place I needed to be a part of. So far they have bent over backward to make me feel at home and part of the team, going over the top in training, (meaningful stuff not the sit in front of the computer and select A,B,C stuff). I haven't even finished all the training and I feel like I can retire here... Most of the employees I have meet and spoken with have been here 10+ years and have no thoughts of moving on... I will up date this review in the future, but so far so good!!

I can’t believe I would stoop this low and ever work for such a terrible company. They don’t value employees, you’re an expendable number to Herc, and in a second they would drop you to save a dollar. They are so understaffed for the equipment volume they have, and Herc beloved there model runs this businesses like clock work with 1/3 the staff that is actually required to support the equipment. Just absolutely terrible moral compass. The environment at the mine in conjunction with CNRL is very toxic. Extremely high turn over rate and it’s no wonder. If you enjoy being treated like a second class citizen, then look no further. Join the Herc team.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Lack of equipment , the people that are non revenue generating seem to have the must say on the  way the company is being ran . Dealing we the US leaders and their spreadsheets . Not the market  you’re in ! 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Local branch excellent. The leadership is poor and didn’t want any input that is negative against their business plan . 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Scrambling all to find equipment to fill orders , stressful

Not Reccomend!

I was there for almost three years  this was my worst employment situation ever !

Poor branch management experience levels.   The staff is suffering under the BM's need to control and micromanage 

Questionable integrity and misappropriation of position and company assets 

Corporate levels leadership was not engaged snd was not capable in supporting me in my position

 long term employees leaving    4 person at branch office with 10+ years with the company have quit in the last year.

The benefits are very good, the company covers 100% of the benefit premiums, so I don't have to pay anything for me and my family. There is also a health care spending account on top which I can use.  

I am also very happy to have a good pension plan to focus on my retirement, with a company match, something many companies don't offer anymore.

My Manager is great, recognizes me and my co-workers for doing a good job and is interested in my career growth.

Great company to work for.

What is the best part of working at the company?
None that I can think of.  American management style.  

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The lack of respect for employees and customers.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Everyone is constantly looking over their shoulder.  Management is literally by phone app.  

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
All depends on what tasks the phone app wants done that day.  Starting with regurgitating operational data to staff that have no control over it.

Advancement is only possible through certain pathways. Most pathways to management do not exist except through front counter only. Management preachers, safety, until it affects timelines. Managers also do not like when an expert in a subject matter. Tell them no., They continue to push through it just to make their plan work. Management will also send trucks out on the road repetitively even went out of service, or without proper registration.. You were just a number no matter how much effort you put into a company. Top management will hire their friends before in-house or out of house positions.

First off I will say the compensation (when things are busy) is great... And that's where it ends unfortunately. This is a company that is never truly happy with performance. On one hand you are killing it in an area, but they are quick to point out, often times in a public forum, where you aren't doing something else. 

At the end of the day the only thing that matters to management is if the numbers on the spreadsheet look good so they get their bonus. You have been warned!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
 Nothing, its a place for Carrier growth and a place of Absolute opportunity. I miss my Herc Rental and Angelo whom i was was working for.

Just Amazing! it is the place that i would recommend everyone to work.

I enjoyed each and every moment.
