Having spent significant time here, I can say the operational foundation is solid. Every day begins with a focused tailgate meeting, ensuring health and safety are front and center. The logistics for field work—including travel, meal allowances, and company vehicle support—are well-managed and reliable.
​As the company transitions into a more structured, unionized environment, the focus has shifted toward a more standardized experience for all technicians. While this offers stability, I personally value environments that continue to prioritize individual merit and specialized technical advancement. Management remains very supportive and provides excellent training for upcoming projects. It is a fantastic place for someone who values a consistent, safety-first atmosphere, and I look forward to seeing how the company continues to balance its new structure with opportunities for high-level technical specialization

      Overall a good place to work for the people who want to gain some work experience. If you are a strong, energetic person or a person who wants to lose weight, then this is a great place for you to work. It requires you to walk up to 20 km a day, so you can make money while exercising. I worked as a Coop student during the summer time. My team leader in Windsor region is super friendly and helpful. He is willing to support or help you in all aspects. Teammates are humorous and friendly as well. This work requires team cooperation, so it's really important.  In addition, you may have the opportunity to travel to other parts of Ontario. As an international student, it was great for me. They provided us with a brand new SUV and a comfortable living environment. 
      The downside of this job is that, you need to overcome the hot and humid environment in the summer. Some customers can’t understand your job. They are being rude sometimes and you willl have to explain to them.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Management are for the most part understanding of taking personal time during the workday. There definitely are busy times in the summer and dead times in the winter which can be a great thing for some.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
During the begging of the summer, if you work as a leak surveyor, you will just have to come to terms with the ticks and mosquitoes crawling over you all day. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It is very much so a "scratch my back I'll scratch yours" vibe. If you help out management, they will help you out.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Wake up. Get briefed at 7:15am on where you are heading for the day. Drive there (usually 20-50 minute drives), then walk 15-30k steps along the natural gas lines until 2pm. Then you do odd ball inspection work until 4pm. Then head back home.

Working as a Leak inspector consists of travelling to different cities across Ontario on a weekly basis to inspect different areas of the Ontario natural gas pipeline. The company will supply a work vehicle and cover all travel expenses. You can expect to work with a surveying team and assigning different sections of pipeline to each member. Surveying involves walking along the underground pipelines and looking for leaks with methane detection equipment. You can expect to walk between 5 km to 30 km a day through various types of terrain across Ontario. Hetek is rooted in positive company culture and supportive team members that will instantly make you feel a part of the team. 

Hetek is a great place to work. It is easy to work one season at Hetek then leave because of the style of work, but they have full time jobs for year round and always lots of work to do. Job security is no question at all, I’ve always felt like I’ve had lots of work ahead of me and never been worried about a lay-off. The company is growing rapidly so they are constantly posting new opportunities to move up in the company. All around I think Hetek is a very reasonable company that will provide for and assist its employees. Management isn’t always transparent but if you ask about things you will always get answers. As long as you go honestly by your work, you will love working at Hetek.

Best part of the company is the feeling of knowing you are keeping your community safe and especially if younger, the travel.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The job can be physically and mentally demanding, alot of different work environments both indoors and outdoors.

Overall a good work culture especially among the people in your own division 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Typical day involves doing morning equipment checks, followed by a good 6+ hours of walking pipelines throughout the work day, travel and breaks mixed in.

I enjoyed my time at Hetek Solutions Inc. You get to travel throughout Ontario while being accommodated for travel expenses. Salary was based on production so ultimately you get paid on your pace. Work was pretty easy for the most part in southern Ontario, but it is physically demanding. Always exposed to the scorching heat of the sun. However, if you are a hard working individual who is comfortable with being exposed to the outdoors then there is an opportunity to make a lot of money for a Summer job. 

Working at Hetek would have been great if I didn't need money because my paychecks were often wrong there were hours I wouldn't get paid for and no one would give me an explanation (it's hard to reach someone when you're on the road unless it's about you doing the work apparently). The travel was cool I was never in London after hiring except for training, but when you're not properly compensated you can't really afford to do much. All in all I'd say don't work here unless you're in college and it is for a summer job or you already have money and just want to travel for free, because you won't make nearly enough to survive and will be ripped off hours. 

The Gas Leak Surveyor position was a great summer work experience after my first year of engineering at university. It supplemented my academic education as I learned about operating field instrumentation, inspecting gas delivery systems as well as learning their nomenclature, classifying leaks according to CSA standards, and keeping the public safe from hazards. My work term was from May to August (4 months) and this experience proved to be valuable as a student and later on for understanding field conditions as a professional. 

Keeping people safe. The feeling of accomplishment  you get at the end of the day after even the hardest days is indescribable.
This job involves walking anywhere a gas line would be, from an urban yard to a remote wooded area and everything in between. All the travel involved is paid by the company. The pay is structured on how much pipe you’ve covered in a day with bonuses for quality. 
Every morning the supervisor meets up with the team and goes over the work for the day and always keeps you up to speed.
