The needs of the home are all that matters here. Vacations/days off are usually denied for no good reason. Indifferent to the needs of staff or suggestions to improve things. Management knows everything - everyone else knows nothing, even though you will rarely see them on a unit; they are insufferable. In all honesty, they are fair though - they will treat all PSW's, Enviormental, Dietary, and Registered staff with equal contempt, regardless of your ethnicity or gender - we are all equally worthless in their eyes. Scheduling is terrible (clueless , vindictive and incompetent). Unreasonable workload - expect to work short most of the time. Continuity of care is an afterthought at best. Expect to work on unfamiliar units. Expect to work every weekend. During the Covid pandemic, they could be found hiding in their offices downstairs. Called us heroes during the worst of it, but when things settled down, all of that was forgotten. You are just a number. They do not care about your physical or mental health whatsoever. You are replaceable. You will not be appreciated for going above and beyond. I will miss my co-workers, but I can't wait until I retire. Just hope I make it in one piece. You have been warned.

As a part timer you are expected to pick up more than your scheduled shifts and are also scheduled additional shifts on top of a set schedule. Management has no interest in work life balance and every staff that walks into a position is just a number to them.  Pay is good but that is the only thing going for this place.  Years of seniority and you will still veg denied almost all vacation requests. No tolerance for mental health accommodation from management, in fact they would rather find a way of getting rid of you because you cannot meet their demanding expectations.   Management doesn’t care to listen to any concerns that are brought up to them and would rather find fault in how well you are able to manage the immense workload.

No work life balance, poor management they don’t listen to support staff no matter how much you grieve. No enough shifts to meet your needs.. you have to be on your phone 24/7 to pick up shifts as you are only scheduled 4 per period which is not enough and it takes years to get a full time position let alone a permanent part time position. 

Hillsdale is a terrible place to work because you could work there for 10 years plus and still not get full time. They expect part timers to work 7 shifts a pay and be by the phone. I have worked there for 10 years and I am still working 3 weekends and getting denied vacation while I work holidays and am expected to pick up shifts.

Planned and implemented programs for seniors
Provided cognitive based programs with a few other domains. For example leisure activities. Efficient  in focusing on Dementia care strategies. Great teamwork with internal team.

I did my placement here and the training was really good for me, I gained knowledge and hands on experience which helped me obtain employment in my field.

Great experience. Multi cultural fast paced environment with many very diverse talented staff. Very friendly and professional PSW's and Nurses. Happy to have been apart of this team!

Welcoming place to work, great pay and benefits. Always putting residents care first, cognitive and dementia based activites and programs. Great staff and very healthy work environment 

Very good experience, loved the fast paced environment. Didn't get to stay long enough to really get a full feel for working there.
