Hockey Hall of Fame

While the work-life balance was decent and being in the hockey atmosphere is an amazing opportunity, upper management is incredibly toxic and misogynistic. Management does not take responsibility for any issues that arise nor accountability for their behaviour. This company uses and abuses younger staff and new hires. They will lie to you and brush you and your concerns off. The pay is low unless you are top management, everything is top heavy. Very low opportunity to move up and increase your salary. Benefit and pension are good but only if you are full time permanent. Managers rarely have your back and give you support. The workplace culture is toxic and workplace moral is low. They preach a lot about being a team but this is not put into practice. Would be nice if they had proper HR in place that looked after the employees best interests. 

A fun place to work if you love the sport of hockey, but it functions a lot like a high school atmosphere. Management have been there for so long that some don’t really know what being a good manager looks like. The pay scale is very top heavy with little opportunity to move up, and there are a lot of office politics that make working there difficult. The team spirit is very lacking, and no one will listen to your concerns because management are all friends. They know they can replace employees quickly so they don’t treat them well 

You would go to the admissions desk before the shift started to pick which lunch and position you wanted to start at for the day. Once you've done that you would go to your position and make sure that everything is working okay and running smoothly. If it is a weekday then general the crowd is smaller and it is easier to interact with customers. The weekend, however, is generally more hectic so you have to be prepared for a rush. You get to spend one hour at each of the positions and you get a 45-minute lunch with a 15-minute break.

The Hockey Hall of Fame is an excellent place to have one's internship. The employees are welcoming and encouraging, fostering a passionate understanding of the sport's history. My typical day the Hockey Hall of Fame would include entering it's archive section to organize its materials, including documents and hockey cards. If any questions came to mind, management would take the time to listen and provide answers.

gets very boring after like one week, if you enjoy hockey do not work here, you will start to hate the sport, they make you do insane amounts of physical labour during the HOF induction week and the staff room is so depressing 

Co-workers and store managers are what make this job great; There's a real team atmosphere within the store! 

Working in sports is also a big pro to this job. 

I believe other parts of upper management could be more supportive towards the team of staff and managers.

A primarily 9-5 job enviroment with exceptions for certain events/projects. This is not an ordinary job. Having a passion for Hockey is helpful in working here.

Fun venue to visit.  If you are a Hockey Fan, this is the place for you.  Compensation is average, job advancement is limited.  Very good work/home balance.

Enjoy going to work. Check in, perform the tasks depending on the the type of shift. Be polite and respectful to other companies also working there. It's fun.

most enjoyable part of the job is meeting people. Hardest part of the job is the slow days in the off season. I learned many retail selling techniques and how to use a retail point of sale.
