Hockey Nova Scotia

This has been one of my favourite jobs because it brought out a new passion for myself. A typical day was just coming to the rink and going out on the ice too give it your best and have fun. my manager was very good at giving me tips on how to be a better referee. the hardest part of the job is too deal with the occasional howling parent. the most enjoyable part of the job is really all of it. what I loved about it was having fun and being a part of the game in a different way.

field calls from members, team leads, requests for permits, process injury claims, plan meetings for board, make travel arrangements, order supplies as needed.

Referring has always been a passionate hobby of mine. I do not even refer to referring as a job it is just a past time that I happen to get paid for. I have never experienced any sort of hostility while working for Hockey Nova Scotia, it has always been a stress free work environment.

This is just a winter passtime to earn a little bit of money while attending school. It is great for exercise, meeting new people and gaining confidence in my decision making. However, there are some bad games as well, espeicially when the crowd or angry coachs starting ripping into you.

Hockey Nova Scotia is a great environment for a young person who is looking to give back to a program they were involved with growing up. Management within HNS always is looking at ways to advance and better our program

Referee and line various leagues around Nova Scotia. Assignments are merit based as are playoffs and tournaments. Still active, also work as mentor for young officials. Very rewarding.

working as a time keeper was a very fun job. well payed, and a great atmosphere. they give you a room to get prepared in with the referees. boos was great.

Choose your availability and you will always get games, the more you work the easier it gets and the more money you will make.  The environment was great and very supportive

Referee/linesman development program needs improvement to keep up with other provinces. It would be nice to see more elite camps, more evaluations (in person or video).

This place of work wasn't the best but, I did what I could to make it work.
Balancing out work and school was the easy part along with helping out customers.
