Hockey Opportunity Camp

As a day camp counselor, a typical day started at 9:00am.  The children would be dropped off at the camp by bus.  We would then split up into different groups based on age and continue to our activites. These activities included archery, arts and crafts, kayaking, outdoor adventure, windsurfing, water skiing, wall climbing and snorkeling. My co-workers and I worked together to have a safe and exciting summer for our children.  The hardest part of the job was the amount of children who came to the camp through social workers.  After a couple years, I finally realized the only and best thing I could do was make sure these children had a smile on their face when they left.  The most enjoyable part of the job were the children.  Each year my relationships with them grew stronger. Watching them grow, learn and become the individuals they are to this day was amazing.  I feel so lucky to have been able to be a part of their past.

Camp is a great place to work especially from grade 11-summer after first year. You are very busy every single day so you don't get bored but you do get tired. I learned a lot about being a leader. Managment is pretty good, they are just slighly unwilling to promote you if you aren't in their "circle" of liked people. The hardest part of the job is making friends and keeping up with sleep. Most enjoyable part of the job is watching kids learn.

●	In communication with program heads, was responsible for the supervision, creating and running group programing and ensured overall satisfaction of campers of various ages and abilities
-   Collaborated with staff team to run the age section smoothly and effectively every week.

A typical day at Hockey Opportunity Camp is filled with fun activities, lots of time spent with coworkers, and great meals. The counselling staff are very friendly, and are lead by competent section heads and directing staff who work to keep everything running smoothly. I could not have asked for a better summer camp experience and would highly recommend giving Hockey Opportunity Camp a visit.

HOC was a camp I started going to when I was just 9 years old and ended up becoming a counsellor at when I was 16 and 17. Spent the day with the kids and playing games and overally having an amazing experience. The best part of the job was when I could make my campers happy because not too long ago I was one myself.

This job was an amazing experience, they are in a beauty spot along the lake side and allow numerous amazing activities for the kids to experience! The typical day at work was very full you were always working with a few breaks here and there.

During my time working at Hockey Opportunity Camp I enjoyed the fast paced work environment and ability to grow new relationships with great people. I went to H.O.C  as a camper for many years so to finally go as a staff member was special and an experience I will never forget.

I had an amazing time working at HOC for the past few summers. The fellow counselors were always fun and made the experience even more enjoyable. Working in a cabin with kids is also very rewarding.

Was able to teach kids how to correctly play the game, expanding on skating, shooting and other necessary skills. While at the same time we demonstrated clear leadership skills in light of stressful situations.

Great place tio work, staff is very friendly and welcoming. the facility is great. offer many activities for kids of allages. Perfect balance of hockey and a summer camp experience
