What is the best part of working at the company?
If you want to be surrounded by people that will treat you like family, Hollyburn is a great place to work at. Extremely supportive and friendly work environment. Management was always extremely accommodating, supportive, and would listen to any questions and concerns you had. Everything was addressed and taken into consideration. The culture around the club is fun, and the club WILL take care of you. With all of this being said, there are stressful days (like any work place), but if you build positive relationships, everyone will be there for you. I would recommend this workplace to ANYONE who wants a more versatile and FUN work environment.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Sometimes working if were understaffed, and sometimes taking a large workload due to that.

This was one of the most toxic and unsupportive work environments I have experienced. Management lacked professionalism, accountability, and basic respect for staff. Communication was poor and expectations constantly changed, creating unnecessary stress and confusion during every shift. There was little to no support, and concerns were dismissed rather than addressed. The workplace culture felt negative, cliquey, and uncomfortable. Not to mention your coworkers always talking behind your back. The only positive aspect was interacting with customers, but that did not outweigh the overall experience. I left feeling completely burnt out and would not recommend this workplace to anyone.

Hollyburn is a great place to work! I feel like I am part of a big family that supports one another. I feel that I am constantly challenged, learning new things and also have the autonomy to put new ideas into practice. Hollyburn has a great staff meal program, benefits package and there are many staff events throughout the year, not to mention constant recognition. Management really cares for its employees and wants to see them excel. We work hard but we have fun doing it. Hollyburn is also beautifully situated in West Vancouver with a view of downtown Vancouver. 10/10 recommend as an employer! 

I don't have anything negative to say. I was only there a short time but it gave me a pride in my own cooking and interest in doing things the traditional way. I do have to admit I experienced a bit of homophobia a couple times that weren't threatening but more through ignorance so I let it slide of my back. It gets busy and you will run your carrying full trays on your shoulder but you can do it especially during a big event but everyone's got your back. What I loved was I was kind of a floater so everyday almost I was doing something different and learning new skills.

They say " WE ARE HERE FOR YOU"  to support and all.
Deceitful, cunning, misleading and BIAS management.

Unfortunately, management was the most challenging aspect of the role, always micromanaging and never engaging to staff. There was a noticeable lack of transparency and open communication. Critical decisions were often made without consulting those  affected. Constructive feedback was minimal, and support in resolving internal staff issues was lacking and BIAS

 There also appeared to be a disconnect between upper leadership and front-line realities.

Since starting at Hollyburn about 5 years ago, I have truly found a place that I can see myself staying at for the long haul. I need to be busy to stay engaged in my role, and the Club and my job have continually evolved since walking in the door! I am supported by Management, surrounded by awesome colleagues, and have access to everything I need to succeed in my role. Hollyburn is also open to new ideas and changing the way things are done. There is never a dull moment. It is a great place to be part of a big team and I look forwards to coming to work. 

Hollyburn Country Club have the most nicest people I ever met, starting to Members , Management and down to co-workers. Build a good connections with every staff with sense of team- work and good work culture.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The environment is very toxic. The staff are rude as well as the guests.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Everything is a competition, the training isn’t thorough, no feedback from employers.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I found it quite boring. They gave us few tasks.

A typical day at work would consist of serving food and beverages, cleaning tables and organizing work areas.

I learned how to work as a team player in a fast paced environment.

The management were friendly and respectful.

My co-workers were respectful and helpful.

The hardest part of the job was managing customer expectations.

The most enjoyable was working in a fast paced environment.

Very fun workplace, with good staff and management !!The company provides staff with very enjoyable bonuses ie. annual Christmas parties, weekly contests and optional daily fitness classes!
