What is the best part of working at the company?
End of shift, when you get to leave.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Registers located at the door, constant draft from same. In one winter, I caught 5 colds - normal for me is 1/3 years!

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
One of the worse I've experienced. Always making excuses for the same employees calling in sick, no recognision for those who constantly had to pick up the slack.  Very "clicky" as well.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Arrive, count the till, process sales, assist customers, re-count the till & place proceeds in safe.

Note this review does not include all Home Hardware The particular store I worked you had no breaks during the day poor pay although they did give full benefit package to full time employees after 3 months. Many conflicts and a boss who clawa back .50 cents from a 1.00 raise insisting on more work.

I would not work at this one particular address know what I do now but it was just a stepping stone for a better job to come along

The favorite list of people. There is a list of manager and favorite staff

The work environment is not the best. There is groups of friends and if you don’t belong, you get picked on 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Go to work and do the job.  Coworkers are not friends.

I worked at Home Hardware in the lumber yard for 3 years, and overall, it was a valuable and enjoyable experience. The role itself was engaging and hands-on, giving me a real appreciation for how lumber and building materials are managed and organized. I learned a lot about inventory management, customer service, and safe handling practices, which are all skills I’ll carry forward. The pace of work was challenging at times, but it kept me active and provided a sense of accomplishment at the end of each day.



Was an ok place to work as a boom truck driver, we were treated well because the pay was pretty low.  It’s a great spot to work if you don’t have a lot of motivation, they definitely won’t push you too hard. Half the guys there were slackers just there for a paycheque so it was frustrating at times. I stayed at HH for 2 yrs once I arrived in Ontario before I was offered a trade apprenticeship,  you meet a lot of contacts working in the lumberyard and making deliveries to construction sites.

Great place to work.  I always said, If a person wants to work in retail..this place is a wonderful company.  I was impressed at the consistency in training and also, most products were Canadian made.
I met loads of personalities and supplied building supplies to many customers.  Made a few good friends along the way.

management is inexperienced in employee engagement. 
gossip reins free and some of the staff take great liberty in throwing each other under the bus. Watch out.. job is insecure. Your expertise means nothing here. Your great customer service means nothing here, you will be fired unless you are minimum wage.

No stress just do what’s possible

Load unload-delivery-merchandise

Really enjoyed my job with HH, Got along well with fellow employees. The hardest part of my job was all the heavy lifting of all the building materials, and also we were a satelite store so sometimes we felt a bit left out from the main store.

There were people I liked and people I didn't like so much.  Some people have been working there too long and need things done there way or get irritated too easily.  Alot of small talk in a group of 4 that drive forklifts. All older people.  Just keep to yourself and talk to the people that treat you good and filter out the rest and you will be fine
