If your looking to apply for a material Handler as a "term" contract, don't get your hopes up to high about being considered for a permanent position when it comes time for your term to be finished. They give you 24hrs notice if your lucky enough to let you know whether or not you still have a job. Very poor communication skills and unethical decision making that doesn't even make any sense whatsoever don't try to understand how they make the decisions for the company because you drive yourself crazy if you do. Terms aren't considered to be human beings and are treated like garbage and they contribute a good chunk of the companies overall success rate and aren't given the recognition they deserve and they generally dont consider you qualified enough for a permanent position if you are causcasion and are a hard worker and it's clearly visible to all your co-workers and direct supervisor. Seniority isn't acknowledged when it comes to being considered for a permanent position and places no significance or gives you any sort of advantage over the rest of the possible candidates. If your of a different nationality other than causcasion then your chances are significantly higher than the causcasion population in respect to being hired on permanently. There is no set standard operating procedures that are consistently followed for anything important to do with the companies best interest and upper management is consisted of people that have no experience in running a warehouse and are the ones who make all the decisions and don't have a clue what they are doing. 

A typical Day would start with a machine maintenance check, I was one of few employees who would acutely do it and find problems and file paper work to have maintenance done. I Loaded trailers often with a forklift but a lot of freight was hand bombed and stacked by hand, we also loaded smaller boxes off a conveyer belt, we packed every store right to the roof. I took pride in working hard and efficient, I felt that I was good at my job. Management in front office was great, My supervisor was new and was hard to work with, He was often unorganized, grumpy and frustrated. My Co workers were awesome people and great to work with, We all worked well together and everybody helped one another. The hardest part of the job was the continuous heavy lifting at times, It was fast paced so it could be easy to hurt your back so I had to make a point everyday to look after my body and lift properly an work smart an safe. The best part of the job was feeling like I could stand out and do a good job and do a job that most in the warehouse would not.

Degrees mean nothing.  Jobs are still handed out based on who you know not what you know.  Some jobs are given without job postings or interviews yet have a “fair hiring practice”.  Management is an absolute joke.  They change policies on a weekly basis.  They continue to take more and more from workers yet expect them to be even more productive.  They monitor your every move including how long you take for bathroom breaks and how often you go.  Core values of the company have been on the decline since Walter stepped down.  Corporate owns the benefits company your benefits are through.  Any time you do get a cost of living raise your benefits go up putting more money back in their pocket not in yours.  Profit sharing was a perk but it’s been changed over the years to give a bigger piece of the pie to management and less to workers.  They reply on term workers which they constantly just extend instead of hire full time to eliminate overtime.  Work place is toxic and morale is at an all time low yet management has no clue why.  

What is the best part of working at the company?
The pay is decent for the job and the supervisors are fair. The company treats their employees well with with perks like appreciation dinners, doughnuts and in the summer you get freezies. You also get performance bonuses. Night shift people tend to seem happier.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
You are required to pick orders at a certain speed and often work by yourself. You could get moved to a totally unfamiliar area to help.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Slightly better than your typical work environment but there's always going to be negative people wherever you go. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
After getting to your station you pick up your first order sheet and pick items according to the voice system, which can be annoying if it doesn't understand you.

- Every day was the same, the people who were there the longest got to go to the easy sections and the new guys got stuck in the hardest, heaviest sections.
- Learned that where you are from has a lot to do with how you are treated.
- The management was friendly to your face.
- Co workers were nice, but all told you to leave, to get out while you can.  
- Hardest part of the job was never getting to move forward.  You always get stuck where nobody else wants to work and after months, still not getting trained on the machinery your supposed to use for your job.  Which in turn they would say, you're not trained on this, so go to this area.
- Most enjoyable part of the job was walking out on my last day.

Feels like some teams at other facilities are completely self serving.

has changed to a safety proactive not reactive,  company is investing in its assets now,  to me we are family

Co-workers were great for the most part but if one dislikes you they will turn the pack against you. Seen many employees terminated for the lies of others. Once very family driven and caring but after Walter passed it became very money driven and careless about the sweat and pain of the workers. You are just a number and easily replaced as you will be if disliked by any. Too many hard workers have been booted and liar's praised. It's not worth the stress but should anyone choose to be there I suggest watch your back, keep to yourself and trust NO ONE.

I've never been apart of a company so unwilling to fix their own issues. It's almost like they want to patch everything and keep it like that. Permanent temporary fixes for everything.

The training for forklifts on-site is scary with how minimal it is. Take one for a quick spin out of site of the trainer and come back and you're good to go. As someone who has had professional training by a certified company, this was concerning.


Amazing place to work. All the supervisors and Manager’s are amazing super easy to get along with They pay you very well especially if you work overtime, You will learn lots of new things if your looking for work I highly recommend coming here and looking for a job!!! Good job home hardware on creating a positive work environment 

Wonderful place to work. Work is picking orders for stores and E commerce. Heavy lifting/ in a dirty warehouse. Great pay for what the job entails. Not for everyone. If you enjoy warehouse work and operating light to heavy equipment perhaps this would be a good fit. Typically would hire as Temp-Contract and be invited eventually to full time.
