The role can be fast-paced and emotionally demanding at times, especially when managing urgent client needs, staffing shortages, or unexpected schedule changes. You need to be adaptable and able to prioritize quickly in a constantly changing environment.

The culture is collaborative, supportive, and client-focused. The office works closely together and there is a strong emphasis on teamwork and communication between departments. It’s an environment where you are trusted with responsibility and encouraged to continue learning and growing professionally.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
No two days are the same. A typical day involves coordinating schedules, supporting care professionals, communicating with families, problem solving in real time, and working closely with different departments to ensure clients receive quality care. It’s a role that requires strong organization, communication, and critical thinking skills, but it’s also very rewarding.

From the moment I stepped into Home Instead, I immediately felt welcomed through the team’s cooperation and accommodation. The two-day training was thorough, engaging, and very well explained, which gave me confidence in understanding the organization’s standards and expectations.

A typical day at work involves providing compassionate support to clients while working closely with a collaborative and professional team. I have already been given shifts and opportunities to positively impact the lives of clients, which clearly reflects the organization’s mission and values.

One of the biggest things I have learned is the importance of person-centered care, teamwork, and maintaining professionalism while creating meaningful connections with clients. The management team is approachable, supportive, and open to communication, which makes the work environment very encouraging.

The workplace culture is respectful, collaborative, and welcoming. Everyone seems committed to ensuring both staff and clients feel valued and supported.

The hardest part of the job can be the emotional aspect of caregiving, especially when supporting clients through difficult moments. However, it is also incredibly rewarding to know that your care and presence can make a real difference in someone’s daily life.

The most enjoyable part of the job is being able to positively impact clients’ lives and bring comfort, companionship, and support to those who need it most. I am genuinely happy to work here and look forward to continuing to make my mark in the world through meaningful care.

The best part of this job is the truly rewarding feeling of knowing you are making a meaningful difference in people’s lives. Being able to see firsthand the positive impact of the support and help they receive makes the work incredibly fulfilling. It’s especially rewarding to watch people benefit and grow through the care and assistance provided. I also greatly appreciate working for a company where hard work, dedication, and effort are recognized and valued.

Like any role centered around supporting others, there can be moments of stress when balancing different priorities and wanting to ensure everyone receives the best support possible. The work can be fast-paced at times, but it also reflects how meaningful and important the role is. It’s important to be able to evaluate and prioritize situations appropriately especially when a client emergency occurs.  It’s a rewarding challenge that encourages growth, adaptability, and teamwork

Working at Home Instead has been such a rewarding experience. Every day is different, from coordinating schedules and supporting caregivers to helping families navigate care needs. It can definitely get busy and unpredictable at times, but that’s also what keeps the job interesting and meaningful.

One of the best parts of working here is the people. The team is supportive, friendly, and always willing to help each other out when things get hectic. Management is approachable and truly cares about both employees and clients, which creates a positive and respectful work environment.

I’ve learned a lot about communication, leadership, problem-solving, and staying calm under pressure. The hardest part is handling last-minute sick calls, but it teaches you to think quickly and stay organized. The most enjoyable part is knowing the work we do genuinely makes a difference in the lives of seniors and their families every single day.

Times may get challenging when trying to make sure you are doing the best for all parties involved, but that "stress" is used as fuel to evaluate how you can navigate challenges to continue offering your best

The environment and culture have very deep roots around exceeding the expectations and making sure we offer the best service we can for seniors. Everyone on the team understands that mission, and works collaboratively to make that achievement 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Being a part of the recruitment team, I get the opportunity to call all the applicants who want to be a part of our care pro team. I help navigate them through the hiring process and help establish the standard that is enforced by Home Instead in Calgary

I have spent decades as a nurse working in home care and Home Instead is the only place that I have been able to help our clients achieve their care goals. I have seen our clients go from struggling to stay in their homes to successfully maintaining a level of support that not only allows them to stay there, but do so with the dignity and respect they deserve with our help. We work hard to help our clients achieve their goals and do so in a collaborative, caring environment. I am very proud to be a part of the Home Instead team in Calgary. 

Working for Home Instead so far has been a good experience. They are very accommodating to your schedule and availability. There are always shifts available depending on where you are willing to go and when your available and you are not meant to feel bad if you chose not to take that shift when asked. The schedulers are very good at finding matches not only for clients but also for the care professionals. The team in the office are always there to answer any questions you may have during a shift and really do encourage you to call anytime. There was a two day paid training that was very informative . This company truly cares for their clients and their employees and make you feel welcome as soon as you walk through the door. Good experience so far.

There is no best part; no support, no positive work culture, no inclusivity, no comprehensive training.  Turn over is high and there is a very good reason why Case Managers with nursing licenses are leaving.

Being employed by this company and the work environment they have cultivated, is the most stressful part.

Any expression of fun or lightheartedness is frowned upon. You’re expected to show up early, say yes to anything they want, and stay late.

Soul sucking misery with unrealistic expectations.

I just completed my training last week and had my first few shifts this week, I must say this company and staff are very helpful, supportive and friendly. I was very nervous but the staff reassured me that I was part of their team for a good reason and that went a long way! Definitely apply with homeinstead it’s an amazing company and very flexible. Thank you to all the staff for supporting each individual.

Client emergencies and last-minute changes can be stressful, but it's all about how you choose to manage them, the attitude you take on, and when or how you reach out for assistance. The support is always available.
