Hoover had a great culture on the first site I was on.  The first two foreman's I worked under were some of the best plumbers I ever worked for.  After I got tossed around the company like an expendable rag doll, and saw many good tradesmen get laid off, while the submissive talentless fools got kept, I realized this place is only for making the boss rich.  This company is against everything Apprenticeship Alberta stands for in keeping our trade strong.

Working here has nothing to do with becoming a great, well rounded tradesman.  You will get stuck doing p-traps for months.  You will do nothing but tubs forever, you will do only 1 - 3 things over the course of your apprenticeship.  If you want to learn the trade, be cautious of starting here.  I literally trained a guy on drainage, who did nothing but pull PEX for 3 years.   

The worst thing is the lack of integrity from the upper management.  They lie.  They keep secrets, and always tell you that "A" will happen, and then they do "B" to put you in your place.  They want slaves and drones. You will always get lied to from the upper management about where you going. The upper management has a problem - lack of keeping promises and zero integrity on keeping their word is their specialty.

But as for being a massive production line, Hoover does it like no other.  Work gets done.

Hoover Mechanical treated me well while I was employed with them.  They gave me the opportunity to finish my apprenticeship through them and now that I have been laid off it has given me a new journey to expand my knowledge as a plumber with another company.

The co-workers that I have had within the company have all been good, everyone treated each other well and with respect.  I learned while with this company about power tools, being more self aware and improved my team work skills by working with a group of people.

The hardest part of the job would have to be when I was introduced to a new task that I was not familiar with, but through experience and asking questions I learned the new task and excelled at it.  The most enjoyable part of the job was working with other people and learning new information about my job while working with them.

Depending on where you were, what you were doing and for whom decided the atmosphere and overall day. Most foreman seam stressed out over deadlines or perhaps exhausted of the repetition. They would constantly let their fustation out on an employee. When given a task and taught how to do it to be left alone in completing the task. It was a great day. Listen to the radio put your head down and just plumb away. new management took over while i was there and they were not nearly as giving encouraging and forgiving as the last. The hardest part of the job i would have to say is you are nothing more then a number trained to do but one task and one task only never furthering one self in the trade or company.

good place to do your craft and work. I did my apprenticeship with them and met alot of awesome people. But when layoff time comes its brutal. One thing I found is that if they find your good at something you will do that forever and move from job to job doing that. Makes for bad and not rounded out apprentices but they will see you come from laborer and put you through to jman. But once layoff time comes the jmen go right to the axe.

I was given a lot of new experiences. Training was always done in a professional and positive manner. Other employees were really great to work with and was able to work collaboratively. Management was very understanding of work/life balance. Pay was based on the level of training so you knew what you needed to do to receive more pay. It was a great company to work for.

As with most construction companies while on site the foreman sets the tone/pace for the site. That being said this is one of the best construction companies I've worked for they were very professional. Downside would be you get stuck on one task for a long time which wouldn't be beneficial to you if you're a first year or still trying to get well rounded in the trade.

Worked at keynote tower 2 for around 6 months, had a good crew with lots of apprentices, gave them 2 weeks notice about leaving and left on good terms. Reapplied a few years later and was looked at like I was an alien and never heard of. Typical construction company you bust your back for them for nothing in the end.

same thing every day grab tools head to a unit and install in floor heating, as long as it was ready to go. good people to work with. hardest part of the job was the conditions cold or dirty. best part when u have a finished product that u can see all the hard work you did at the end of the day.
